Enemy Soldiers Mod





Description: The Enemy Soldiers Mod is a mod for Minecraft 1.6.4. The mod adds four new mobs to Minecraft: The enemy soldier, the friendly soldier, the Zombie Soldier and the Grenadier. Six new weapons are added along with ammo. The assault rifle, the sniper rifle, the pistol, the shotgun, the lever action rifle and the rocket launcher. The assault rifle and the rocket launcher are mob drops. The pistol, the sniper rifle, the lever action rifle and the shotgun are crafted. The recipes are shown below.

Mob Description: The friendly and enemy soldiers have assault rifles. They have 100 hit points or 20 hit points with the vanilla version. Soldiers spawn at any time of day. When killed, they will drop an assault rifle. Grenadiers also spawn at any time of day and drop rocket launchers when killed. The weapons can be melted down for one iron ingot. They can also be used as a weapon. Zombie Soldiers are similar to normal zombies. They only spawn at night, will burn up in the daylight and drop rotten flesh. They are stronger and faster than normal zombies and have more health.

Friendly soldiers are the same as enemies except they do not attack the player. They attack all hostile mobs, including enemy soldiers. The friendly soldiers will only attack you if you hit them first and will not attack the zombie soldiers.. All mobs can be found throughout the world. Enemies are in the black clothing and friendly soldiers are in the green clothing.

Weapon Description: The guns in Enemy Soldiers are used just like a bow and arrow. The weapons can be rapidly fired but do more damage if you hold down the right mouse button longer. The pistol is the weakest weapon but is very cheap to craft. The assault rifle is stronger but consumes more ammo. The shotgun is stronger than both the pistol and assault rifle but cannot shoot as far. The lever action rifle is the strongest long range weapon other than the sniper rifle. The sniper rifle is the strongest weapon but is the most expensive to craft.

Sentry Turrets: Sentry Turrets are entities that can be crafted and placed into the world. They are used to defend your home from mobs and other players. The turret will attack anything that moves, including you. You can use pistons to cover them up if you need to pass them safely. It is best to surround the the turret with blocks except for the front. This is so nothing can knock the turret out of place by shooting it.

Explosive Targets: Explosive targets are entities that can be crafted and placed into the world. They explode when they take any damage from falling, being shot or hit with a weapon. Explosive Targets can be used for target practice, as a weapon, or to ignite tnt.

Armored Vest: The armored vest is an extremly tough chestplate included to create balance if you are playing with no other mods installed.

ES - Zombie Apocalypse:
The Zombie Apocalypse version of Enemy Soldiers replaces the soldiers
with powerful zombies. The zombies spawn both at night and during the
day but can move faster at night. This version of the mod also adds a
sledgehammer as a melee weapon. The crafting recipe is shown below.






Installation
This is a Forge mod. Download the recommended Minecraft Forge Installer from http://files.minecraftforge.net/. Run the installer and choose client. Put the Enemy Soldiers file into the mods folder in your .minecraft directory. Run the normal Minecraft launcher and create a new profile. Choose the Forge 1.7.2 or 1.6.4 version. Done!

This mod is great with Ferullo's Gun Mods, however the enemy infantry is tough. 5 Shots from a Barrett .50 Cal. Can you please configure their health to just 2 times what a villager life has? And also the zombies and the friendly soldiers too please. I'm trying to make a Raccoon City on my mind. We can be USS and kill everyone or be Spec Ops then the Black Vested guys are USS. hahaha, getting excited with this!

yeah the textures are too hyperrealistic. maybe make an alt version that gives the guns/soldiers a 64x64 bit style texture like flans mod to blend in? cuz i think the hyperrealistic textures make minecraft loose its virginity a bit. just my two cents to get you a bigger audience than just some milsim guys.

This was originally made to be used in modpacks with visually similar mods, specifically (UE stuff), (Wholy Guns). I made it when I was playing the Infamy Modern Warfare Pack and Voltz. However, if someone would like to make alternative low resolution textures for the mod, I would definitely make them available here.

Maybe add a friend and enemy turret rather than a "I hate everyone" turret?. Does the turret turn or aim up and down? Does it only shoot in a 1x line?

The turret can aim up and down some, but the model isn't animated to move up and down yet. It will still shoot mobs that aren't at the same height. It just needs a clear line of sight to the target. In this update, I stopped the turret from shooting players and passive mobs. It only shoots at hostile mobs now.

I have some serious constructive criticism. I really want this mod in my beta modpack (still getting modder perms) But... when I try and launch... minecraft runs out of entity indicies. Even removing the weather mod and tropicraft does not resolve this- I looked into your mod, and found out why without much problem. I am seriously saying this as a fellow modder (I have a wip mod, a few ores generated, a few items craftable, things like that)- you do not need a different model and a different entity and different render for every single bullet! It causes problems for people with many mods, because that kind of detail is dangerous considering minecraft's hard limit on 256 entities able to be registered via normal means. My suggestion? Have one bullet for every gun... do they even see the bullet? do you even need the entities to do this? there are workarounds for sure, if the guns are instant shot instant hit (which I believe there are). I believe you can use an extended itemInteractionForEntity constructor. If not, I know there are ways around it...

I looked into this based on what you were saying and I believe I found an answer. It's not related to how many entities are registered, but the way in which they are registered.

Scroll down to "immediately's" April 30th 2013 post for a detailed description.

Basically, forge can't resolve entity id conflicts if you use EntityRegistry.registerGlobalEntityID() to register entities. I recompiled the mod using EntityRegistry.registerModEntity(). Let me know if this fixes your problem.

I never encountered this during testing because we are using different mods in our packs.

You do sound like you know what you are doing, and I will try this out- but to be fair, I seriously do not think these are ID conflicts due to the fact I have experienced these before and my game ran fine... just with starconium golems spawning in packs of 16. (Which I later found out were conflicting with the orespawn ant). The game actually crashed telling me there were no entity indicies left- and I asked the creator of orespawn about this error when I got it trying to install the too much tnt mod, and he said that like any person who gets this error- basically im shit out of luck due to the hard cap of 256. Plus, I am running your mod fine upon taking out certain mods, and in this experience, I have noticed I can swap a few here and there.. and the picture came out to be that certain mods that add a lot of entites ran fine with the mod with others out, and vice versa (the others ran fine with that mod in), yet when I add your mod to a situation with both, it does not work. The other two mods that I am talking specifically about run just fine together normally- which leads me to believe this is not an ID conflict, but simply a problem of being OUT of these IDs. But on the chance that registering the entites like so actually makes it (kind of) not count as an entity, or something of that sort- I will try this version with the other mods and see if it works (Trust me, there is nothing of use in the crash report other than whichever mod complains about its entities being messed with) and also, I have 84 mods in my to-be pack (another reason I believe it is the numbers). In case it helps at all, the two mods (technically three, but its complicated) that I have been playing around with taking out and moving with your mod to make room are tropicraft and specialmobs. I will reply after checking out the links and downloading the version. Also, if you dont mind, would you be able to give me a few tips on modding (Don't worry- im not someone blindly going into this, I already have an in-dev mod with items and world-generated ores, crafting recipes, a few special items and such- works fine, and I use eclipse. But a bit of advice on how to make some slightly more advanced things like guns... and I have not looked into this at all in any way at all whatsoever- so this next part I admit to having zero experience on, although I am prepared for the challenge- I would like to make a mob?)

The 256 cap supposedly refers to global IDs. So you're right, the game runs out of IDs. The same issue also apparently causes ID conflicts. However, with mod specific IDs, forge can use the same ID for two entities - bypassing the cap and eliminating ID conflicts. "There are only 256 global entity Ids but you can go higher with mod-specific entity Ids." Quote comes from here --> Hologuard-June-25-2013. Originally Enemy_Soldiers had global entity IDs. The new version I posted for you has mod specific IDs. I would be happy to answer any modding questions you have. Just send me a pm. I check PMC often.

I was wondering if you would consider making a version of this mob where the zombie soldiers replaced Vanilla zombies, and maybe up the spawn rate of them? that way I could make a pretty cool Apocalypse map :)

Again, major improvements have been made, I'm proud and happy to see you so awesome :D

The reason I wanted this is so that I could make a reasonable defence, and not waste heaps of resources on useless MC zombies :L. Having them replaced by Enemy Soldiers zombies will make my efforts much more worthwhile :)

The zombies are just a new hostile mob for you to shoot at. The game has zombies and soldiers, so why not zombie soldiers? If they are annoying you by killing you, remember they only spawn at night and go away during the day. Also they are not very challenging if you use the guns and armor from the mod. They only do 5 damage and the guns can do 50 to 100. If you have a sniper rifle and a bullet proof vest, it's like killing a chicken with a diamond sword.

Its just that i was playing in a army map that i got, and Me vs soldiers with some other mods stuff :P And then when it was night, The zombie soldiers came and they where everywhere!!! They killed me 4 times and there was still soldiers That was trying to kill me!
They are faster then the zombies so it was no way to get away from them in the Army area. The zombie soldiers got More health then zombies so it took more time to kill them. Its just that they dont fit here in the Enemy soldiers mod. If you Make a zombie mod With zombie killing weapons, Then it is OK. But not in a Soldiers mod That was made for WAR!

Not lag, just performance issues. Happens with Minecraft all the time on the laptop I use. During events, like a creeper attack, placing machines, killing a skeleton, etc. there will be a momentary drop in fps near 0, then it's fine after. Normally happens the first time the event takes place, then it's smooth the next time. Lag would be in SMP when your connection is bad and you fall through the ground, cannot open chests, etc.
