Don't install to Program Files! Recommended installation directory is C:/MCSkin3D/

If you used Legacy version previously, please update to 1.6! It should work for you now.

Update #6 : 01/15/2012 8:22:59 am1/15/12

MCSkin3D Beta 1.4.0.174: http://alteredsoftwo...b_1_4_0_174.zip

Not many changes, but, Pony support is in. It's not entirely completed yet, as we're in the process of re-designing the "parts" to be more modular.

I also fixed a few tiny bugs, as well as two MAJOR bugs (paint bucket/color picker were swapping G and B value, as well as a render bug that caused paint bucket to crash).

The new color wheel isn't in this version, but it will be in the next beta.

As always, follow our Facebook page for more news:

What are base forms, and what do you mean by "reinstall"? There's no installer, it's a zip.

Hey, this might just have an easy fix and I just haven't searched enough, but I've been using Wine to open mcskin3d for quite a while now and it was all going pretty well, but now mcskin3d wont open at all? I've tried right clicking and pressing open, and it looks like its starting up, but the app never actually opens?? There might not be a fix at all and maybe I'll just have to try using a different program, but I've already tried re-downloading Wine and mcskin3d. I'm kinda stumped lmao. //Also I'm no tech expert so uh if anyone decides to reply, might you be as considerate to put it in simple terms ; v;??//

Thanks for taking the time to read if you did! -Rain

Hey better words pls
I love this skin editor so much!! I finally got it to work again after months of Norton automatically deleting it because it is an .exe file, and I've fallen back in love! I have a few suggestions though of how to improve because there are just a few issues that could probably be resolved to make users' experiences even more enjoyable!

  • 1. Norton security does automatically delete the file and the Norton settings themselves do need to be edited to prevent deletion of the programme. This means security risks are increased as the settings are not at their maximum to prevent viruses/malware installing themselves on computers.
  • 2. The Alex model's arms are slightly disjointed. What I mean by this is they are not in line with the top of the body and are about half a pixel too low which makes lining up skin textures a little difficult.

Overall I am really happy with this editor! I just thought I'd bring these issues to your attention so the editor can continue to be improved.

Thank-you for your hard work!! :)

The program is great for me in most cases, but at times it's unreliable, where when I click the dropper and move to pencil, the pencil stops working, and I have to fiddle about for like, 10 minutes before it fixes itself. . . But then again it has smoothing tools skindex doesn't.

Yeah I know. I've been working on the sequel to this program, so I haven't had time to fix some of the obvious bugs.
can i make a suggestion for something like a reference tab, like where you could put a reference photo and take colors from it for accuracy?

I have a problem. I was just making skins and I wanted my pen size to be one pixel but whenever I tried to click it, it always goes to the sizes above. I am really sad because I like the program but I don't know if it's a problem with my computer or the program in general, if anyone else has the same problem and knows how to fix it, please let me know. If it's a problem with MCSkin3D in general I really hope that they will fix it

Anyone know how to convert a 1.8 skin to 1.7, a chat mod told me this something about copying the design of the armor layer to the bottom layer, click on it it for more in depth look. I'm trying to figure it and I'm stumped, I atleast have the skin I want, but I would like to know how to work the method of converting a 1.8 skin to 1.7.

from what I know, just place the pixels one by one ;v; Im not an expert as I use mac but thats the only way I know how

I place the pixels one by one? What do you mean I copy the layer by redrawing the layer onto the skin I can't do that if that's what you mean, do you understand the method Drzzter gave me?

Unfortunately no, what he said seems a bit confusing in my opinion? he just references the armour layers and doesn't tell you how to get them onto the flat layer (all that I can think of is what I said above, individually placing the pixel of the armour layer to the flat layer which takes up a lot of time sadly)

I know that there was a tool that enabled you to copy a section and paste it, I think that might be the stamp, but for some reason I cant use the stamp at all, it might be because I'm on mac

I worked the stamp and it seems to be able to copy a piece of it and paste, but how do I copy a certain part of the bodywear and copy the whole section, the square selections don't fill the entire space of something like bodywear back.

I'm not sure, my guess is just to be precise as you place them down, make the stamp size as big of a square as you can and copy one part, paste it, and then copy another part near it and so on. Sorry I'm not too helpfull ^^;

Thanks, that seemed to work. I did what you said, carefully copy and pacing the bodywear on the body, erasing the bodywear, and saving it before selecting minimal so it would automatically crop it. This is especially helpful as the bengal tiger skin I chose by the same person who made the Eagle Kachina skin just has a layer for a tail.

Glad I could help :)
Suddenly I am inspired to learn C and C++.
this project doesn't use either of those languages, it uses C#.
but I'd never stop someone from learning C.
I just use skindex editor LOL I might use this now^^
Works well, I make my skins with this.

When you downloaded it, did you do anything different from me..?
I downloaded, dragged out the .exe,
and clicked run. It said I was missing languages (I didn't remove them tho)
Then it said application failed; etc.
Idk am I supposed to extract the whole zip file or something?

If all you do with .zip files is drag out the exe, I'm surprised you can get anything to run lmao
Yes, you have to extract the entire zip file and then run the exe in the new folder.

Not sure if you read comments about this but I got a suggestion. Maybe add a online for large brush sizes to make it easier to tell where the brush is(mostly noise has this issue).
when i try to make a new skin it gets an error how2fix???
