If you don't want to use Modloader or Forge, don't download the Modloader Version. Just click Download Mod to get the No Modloader Required version.

this mod is mostly to keep my Florence Duomo looking fine in 1.1 (even though the Duomo doesn't need it anymore since I switched it to a flatmap), but others might find it useful.

1.8 and beyond added void fog near bedrock level. This is not conducive to megabuilds that begin low. Fortunately there was a mod to remove it.

Unfortunately, 1.9 and beyond added a second effect when near bedrock: everything gets slightly darker. This mod removes both the fog and this second effect.

Vanilla Minecraft version 1.1 and up removes the fog if you are in creative mode (but not the dimming ugh). It also removes the fog AND the dimming if you are on a flat map. Use this mod to remove both of them no matter what: in survival, non flat maps, whatever

See the images for an example of
  1. no voidfog but with dimming (creative mode)
  2. no voidfog and no dimming (this mod)

Does this mod and chat bubbles follow the same modpack rules as Voxelmap?

I downloaded this and edited the mod pack I use through the Feed the Beast launcher.  I'm playing the Direwolf 2 modpack.

Unfortunately nothing happened.

Does anyone know if there is anything else I can or should have done?  I just added it to the active mods without unzipping or anything.

In the FTB launcher, click 'Edit Mod Pack' button, then click 'Add Mod' button, navigate to the mod you want to add, select it and click 'Open' button, thats it!

and yes, DL the Forge version

I'm also playing the Direwolf20 modpack. This works great for single player, but does not work on the server. I thought void fog was client side, so why do I still see void fog when playing on the server?

Any ideas on how to make it work for the server?

My guess is that you didn't download the forge version of the mod.

Hey Mamiya .. I love this mod .. been using it since beta 1.8 IIRC, maybe 1.0.  Anywho, question, how hard would it be to add a feature to remove the Nether Red fog?  Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the Nether has a smaller render distance because of the Red fog?

possible sure.  Haven't looked at it so I don't know how involved it would be, but modding can do pretty much anything to the game

When I installed this, I went into a world in single player, and after five seconds, I see Shutting Down Internal Server or something. Then my game crashes.

you click the meta_inf file, then press Delete... then say yes. You must open it with Win-rar (Or 7-Zip, and delete it from there.) and thats it...

Does this work for optifine?

Probably not. Unlike MCPatcher, Optifine is distributed as class files isntead of patches. MCPatcher works with this by patching it like it would patch the regular vanilla files. Optifine would just overwrite it. That said, I believe Optifine allows for disabling void fog. I don't know if it also disabled the dimming effect

I don't have the source code for Optifine so it's a bit hard to merge

Not compatible with MCPatcher, water isn't transparent with this mod. Occuring in 1.3.2, not tested in 1.4.2. Any thoughts about that in 1.4.2?

MCPatcher currently breaks if EntityRenderer is modified at all. Reported to Kahr, he's said it's fixed in the next version. Don't know when he will release it, but I'll check then to see if it fixes it.

When it does work (like it did before) apply this mod with MCPatcher so it can take the modified file to use as a base for patching

Cool for reporting it! I'll test it on 1.4.2, waiting 2 mods to be updated. Thanks for the answer! Kudos to you to continue working on it

is fixed now (for me at least). Have to apply this mod using mcpatcher. It picks up the change and adapts to it fine

Hi. There was a time when you first introduced this mod where you also were providing on a mod on the official forums which removed the black plane sky/background for levels below block 64. This was great for Skyblock such maps, where you would suddenly transition from a blue sky all around you, to a black sky all around you, when you would descend below Y level 64.

Have you continued this mod as well? Is there somewhere I can find it? If I'm missing something obvious here, please forgive me.. I was sure they were separate mods.. and I've been into the Skyblock craze lately, and hate that transition to underground/black plane as you descend.

yeah it was a separate thing. I'll try to dig up the code (or redo it)

Wow, thanks a million. I have really really missed that mod. I've played my skyblock maps from mostly a level > 64 to avoid the issue.. it's so ugly when it goes black like that.

You are the man!

Hello again. Some time since I last posted. I wanted to ask again if it was possible for you to redo this old mod for me.

I now make Youtube videos for games and I'm planning to start a new series for some Skyblock similar maps such as Stratosphere Survival and Sky Realms. However, the game still does this annoying thing where, when you fall below Y 64 or so, the sky goes from blue to black.

I'd really love to have this old mod again. If nothing else can you provide info on how you made the change, and I could try to take over the mod in the future? I am very interested in seeing that old mod live on in the future. But so far as I know, it has never been updated.

Appreciate any help you can give.

How hard would it be to adjust the amount of fog...I don't hate it enough to want it completely gone, but if it wouldn't be too hard to just make it half or a third of the intensity it is that'd be awesome. Input?

*edit* If that wouldn't be an easy thing to do is the one that just removes the fog but leaves the dimming intact up to date for 1.3.2? Do you have a link to it?

It could be made configurable, with one or both effects being turned off, and intensity chosen. It would add some complexity to the mod that I'm not sure I want to deal with though. I'd be happy to point you in the right direction if you feel like doing a little coding

not sure if there is a dedicated fog remover still. Google voidfog remover or something. Also, IIRC Optifine disables fog (and not the dimming IIRC). Personally I think Optifine does too much for its own good (making compatibility issues with a lot of mods) but it will do that.
