Published live for historical purposes. This is of course long dead

For a much better version of this same idea (that works on current Minecraft), see here: http://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/1710-sspsmp-villager-trading-info/

works in Singleplayer only

Tired of clicking on every villager to see what they will buy, so you can find one to buy your wheat or paper? This mod shows what villagers buy (and how much) above their heads.

There is no way to get this info in SMP without sending additional packets (assuming it's possible), and that wouldn't be nice to servers.

Future versions may format the text better, or show the info graphically: showing what they buy, how many, and what they sell using icons. May also add a toggle. Motivation is small though since it doesn't work in SMP. Could be useful for people actually play survival SSP though!

Install by putting the class file in your minecraft.jar. Should work with MagicLauncher or whatever

This is very interesting. Why only 20 diamonds now :S?

Does it still work with the latest version of minecraft? I guess I'll check it to see if it does.

Just tried it. But unfortunatly it does not work for me on 1.5.2.

Update maybe?

For servers, I don't suppose it'd be possible to make this mod merely remember which villagers do what after you've clicked on them? I mean if you're gonna get the data anyway...

yeah that'd be a possibility. Hopefully you get the info for all the offers when you right click. It might be that it only remembers ones you look at, ie you'd have to go through all of them before the client would know about them. If not, that'd be great. I'll have to experiment. I've also thought about just querying once when you are in range (pretending to right click). we'll see!

I'm assuming that since this is only 50% done you might get to this, but you should use StringTranslate.getInstance().translateNamedKey(item.getItem().getItemName()) instead of just item.itemName(). The string returned would be more readable to the casual player.

cheers! will do. I sort of stopped when I realized I'd have to create additional traffic for SMP to function. That'd be easy enough to do though
