Introduction:

WesterosBlocks is a Forge 1.6.4. Mod that adds more than 400 new blocks into the game. The mod was specifically created for, and tailored after the needs of the WesterosCraft Creative Server. Development was lead by MikePrimm, who is also the mastermind behind the DynmapPlugin. Emoticone11 and Thamus_Knoward also contributed much of their time to see the mod through to completion.

Due its extensiveness a full list of additions will be included at a later date.

Feedback and further information:

Installation:

The mod and the resource pack come bundled together, if you download our custom launcher. This is by far the easiest way of installing the mod.
Other ways to install it:
---> You can manually build a custom forge-based client as outlined here.
---> Add our modpack to the Technic Launcher as outlined here.
---> You can build a fancy custom-client that runs Optifine, Forge, and this mod with fancy shaders as outlined here.
---> If you are already running MCPatcher and Forge, installing this should only require pasting the WesterosBlocks.jar into your .minecraft/mods directory.

It is also highly recommended that you use this mod together with the most recent version of the WesterosCraft ResourcePack, they complete each other!

  • Please do not abuse the download link!
  • Do not upload this mod anywhere else!
  • Give credit where credit is due! That means to WesterosCraft & MikePrimm and all the above mentioned individual artists/ developers!

This mod is 100% free, if you should see this mod offered behind an adfly link or reuploaded elsewhere please let us know!

Hi, awesome mod. Are you releasing the 1.7.10 version? I saw you updated it on the Westeros launcher.
Love this mod, there is nothing quite like this for building.

Cheers Zimmid

Hello, this is the most beautiful mod i have ever seen, but i have a problem with it. The original glass pane dont want to connect to the blocks from Westeros. Is it a bug? In the WesterosWalks video series there is no problem with it.

You are the best team ever :D and sory for may inglish

PS: please make a WesterosWalks video abot Horn Hill! I really want to see that.
That seems to be an issue which concerns Optifine. The window panes connect fine when using a MCPatcher modded Minecraft. Sadly, because we don't use Optifine, we did not support it.

Hornhill is actually being redone and once it is complete I'll see about getting DutchGuard to make a WesterosCraft Walks for the area!
Hi!  I am going to make a simple mod with some more bricks, and wanted to use some textures from this mod.  Is it ok if I use these textures?  I will give credit to WesterosCraft and MikePrimm
Hey prokchopSMIN, without knowing which textures you will use I can't give you a universal permission since some textures are also derivative work from DokuCraft and DokuTSC. Would you mind to specify what exactly you want to use from us in a PM to us?

You would be on the save side, if you also ask for permission from the DokuTSC team.

Cheers
Thamus

why does the jar say its for 1.5.2 when i open it. while is says it 1.6.4 here

which got this mod off of the westeroscraft website and it worked but the link for this one doesnt (just closes my minecraft)
We have just finished a new update to the mod. Hopefully that will resolve the issue. In general you shouldn't need to open the .jar unless you want to meddle with the files...which is only recommended if you know exactly what your doing, and if you credit us whenever you publicise your changes.

Hang in there, I will try to upload the updated form later today.
Cheers,
Thamus

edit: I believe the 1.5.2. for the mod's jar is the version number of the mod itself, but regardless of that the mod was designed to run with version 1.6.4. of Minecraft Forge.

Why im only one who posting here? :) I recently downgrade my server to 1.6.4 just because your mod and i must say - it is just absolutely amazing! Im really glad for what you are doing for creative community and im proud to run your mod on my server.
It took me about week to get into it and move all my ctm's to Westeroblock system, now im trying to get into cuboid definiton (i NEED a doghoues. I want them for about a year and now it is possible) :).
I hope for more features in future. I like to have some more tutorials for it too!
Just asking - is there any chance from you to explain for community how to build a launcher like yours? I know it is lot of coding and it is not easy, but i think feature like this will be a lot appreciated for modded servers :)
Hey LatexCraft,
thank you for using our stuff :) I'll try to check out your server as soon as possible! I'm stoked to see how you have adapted it to your needs!

I'll relay your request to our main coder, Mike Primm! He will hopefully be able to come up with a small guide.

Cheer,
Thamus

Hi guys. Will be there eventually update to 1.7.x ? :)
Hey Surgerix,

we've talked about that briefly last week but we haven't made up our mind yet. Some of the mods we want to implement into our Custom Launcher require us to take that step, so eventually im pretty sure we will!

So glad to hear that :) I running a small creative server, and i have lots of fun with mcpatcher and whole texture work. This mod allows me almost everything what i want to do without running out of space on normal block subIDs :) I already turn to MCPC so now i wait for your update :)
Thaks for all what you doing, u are incredible source of inspiration for me and i talk about your server whenever i go :)

Surgerix
I am happy to hear :) We will have an update of this mod and our Resource Pack coming out in the next few weeks so stay tuned for that!

Also I'd be interested to visit your server and just have a look around how our mod can be used differently and expanded so if you mind send us a PM with the adress :)

Thanks for your support!

cheers

This MOD is amazing, i really love it just like your server :) Do you guys planning to release this mod with some tutorial or small guide? :) And it is free to use? I have a creative server, and i'm running out of space on normal blocks so im thinkink about using this. Do i need permission from you? :) I saw some features with this on your server and is stunning. Small lantern is something what i like to have on my server for long time :)
Greetings from Czech Republic :)
Surgerix :)
Hey Surgerix,

of course its free :) Thats why we have put this up here! The only condition to using it is to credit us (WesterosCraft) and specifically Mike Primm clearly as the authors of the mod. As far as a tutorial goes there is a wiki for the mod here which explains how to alter textures and add more blocks to it. If you need more help than that contact either Mike Primm, Emoticone11 or me via our forums or Teamspeak and depending on how much time we have we can even give you a quick rundown on its features.

If you decide to change the mod to suit your needs its best to get in touch with Mike Primm and ask for permission. Just write him a short email or a PM on his BitBucket. In general though, if you leave things unchanged you don't need permission as long as you give credit clearly. So yeah :) Have fun with this and thanks for the praise :) We appreciate it a lot!

All the best from Germany!

Thanks a lot guys, you are just amazing :) I'll give that a shot :) Just one quick question - if Mikeprimm do this mod and the dynmap also, is there any possibility to render special blocks via your mod on the dynmap? :) Or in future? :) I guess u too think about this already, if is not happen yet :)
Thanks for answer :)
Surgerix :)
Yeah actually I think hes working on an addition to dynmap that does that!

awesome awesome awesome mod. I spent ages looking at all the items. Does this mod update regularly?
Any way diamond for you!
Thx Creeperslayer2,

the blocks section of this mod is almost at its completion but since we are still building the continent of Westeros we expect some additions to follow in the future. There may be a chance of implementing a wall mosaic block, arabic shutters and an ornate marble floor for desert scenarios. The sword rack block will get an overhaul to be able to actually store weapons. Some other blocks might get additional features aswell, we are still figuring that out though.

so CTM wasn't enough and we'll need Forge now for the full experience?
Hey MamiyaOtaru,

this mod, if used with our texture pack, still uses a ton of CTM stuff. The decision to move to Forge was a hard one, but the prevailing argument was to be somewhat independent of the constant Minecraft and Bukkit updates. Another reason was that with having additional textures on metadatas of blocks (like with CTM) caused more work on our server: Builders required help everytime they built because most of the textures they needed were only accesible via WorldEdit. At the same time our texture pack team was running out of options to put new texture on.

Moving over to Forge posed a convenient and effective solution.

Thamus

yeah true, while CTM added more possibilities, they were limited. Interesting to hear you ran up against that limit and have now exceeded it! Almost makes the idea of re-doing the entire North (and then presumably the rest) easier to stomach. Now that you have a ton of things to build with, hopefully you can build things for good as it were.

So, practically, does the addition of blue and red slate stair blocks mean you'll be going through and replacing the quartz stair blocks that looked like blue or red slate due to biome specific CTM stuff? I added handling for that in my minimap specifically because of your server haha Same with CTM handling for Sandstone tops (will there be a new all red sandstone block that doesn't need CTM?)

speaking of which your launcher is using the wrong minimap ;) (it's fine)
Hey MamiyaOtaru,
yeah with all these new blocks old builds looked empty and devoid of life or atmosphere in comparison to the new ones. It was still hard to go that direction of redoing some of the most iconic builds our server has started with, but in general people agreed that it had to be done as they just don't look the part anymore. The "new" North will have more depth, more immersion and just overall better looks due to this mod and the changes in the RP. Winterfell is gonna be a tough one, but I can assure you it will be just as exciting to explore as the old one!

As for "swapping" old with new blocks, our (ingenious) lead coder (MikePrimm) has come up with a tool that did that for us. I'm not exactly sure on how that works but if you want to know just PM him on our website. Im not 100% sure, but I think we now have a separate "red" sandstone block that doesnt need ctm at all.

About your minimap, were not exactly sold on which minimap we use in the final Roleplaying Game that we're creating, so if you're keen on making an impact, have a look at our coder applications. Perhaps that sparks your interest. :) We really need a well versed coding team in order to provide the necessary foundation for our RP endevours.

Thamus

May i do a mod review may split the video up into two one of them will most of the crafting recipes in it the other showing the coolest featues about the mod. Let me know your response please
Sure man, I'd appreciate a review! But you will be a bit disappointed incase you're looking for novel crafting recipes. Our server is a creative server so we didn't need to come up with crafting recipes. That means those blocks can only be obtained in creative from the menu tabs that we added in.

If your still keen though, by all means please review this :)

Wow, you're all over the place.
We've finally started to embrace the minecraft-related "social" media :) So yeah we're just sharing everything that we've come up with in the last 2 years.
Great stuff but you guys need to start posting all the revamps you have done of the old warps and the new stuff.
As separate projects, you mean? Were working on it :)
