As the logging industry grew on the American West Coast, the need for locomotives that could handle the mountainous terrains arose. One solution to the problem was the Heisler locomotive, one of the common types of geared locomotives. Built by the Heisler Locomotive Works in 1918, and assigned shop number 1369, this 3-truck Heisler was first owned by the Hetch Hetchy Railroad (number 2) for a short time, where she assisted in the construction of the O'Shaughnessy Dam, similarly to Santa Maria Valley No. 1000. In the 1920s, she was sold to her final owner, the Pickering Lumber Company, where she worked until her donation to Travel Town in 1952.
