Showcasing one of the newer cities in our growing collection of enviroments, Here is a 1:1 scale replica of the Ancient City of Babylon which is in modern day Iraq.

We are using this model with the MinecraftEDU platform to help students in over a thousand schools to learn about Ancient civilizations and Middle Eastern culture. Doing our part to help students understand this foreign culture and hopefully breaking down some cultural barriers and stereotypes at the same time.

You can explore its current progress via our dynmap view at this link.

The entire city model is about 2.5 x 3.5 kilometers in size, using a previous reconstruction used in several museum exhibitions as our blueprint with also help through archeological data released by several key museums. Every building will be unique and interiors will be decorated.

Excellent work! Here's a question I didn't see answered above. How did you superimpose the archeological map onto the minecraft world surface, and does that schematic appear in game so as to indicate what buildings go where? I used this process on my project with WorldPainter, and would have loved to leave an imprint of the map on the actual minecraft world surface, but once I export from WorldPainter the map, of course, disappears.

I wonder, when you were working on the tower of Babylon, did everyone start speaking a different language?
