Start off by building a small arch, 3 blocks up and 2 blocks across the top, then going down 2 blocks. You should basically have a 3x3 structure with 2 holes in the middle to create a pathway.

On any side of your arch, put an extra 2 blocks at the end facing towards the sky, and place 2 sticky pistons behind it. Look at image for reference.

At the back of the piston, dig down one block and place a redstone torch standing erect. Not on the block next to it, or behind it.

On top of the torch, place any block over it, then add 1 piece of Redstone Dust on top of it.

Stand where you placed the block and dig down 2 blocks so you see the redstone torch. Then dig 1 block in front of that, go 3 blocks across then 1 block forward. Look at image for reference. REMEMBER TO DIG DOWN 2 BLOCKS!

Fill the entire floor with redstone.

Where you see any holes in the ground, fill them in with your preferred block.

Place a pressure plate in the doorway.

Only this side of the door will be activated. To want the other side as well, repeat the steps starting from digging the blocks down by the redstone torch. Fill the floor with redstone.

Fill in any gaps with your preferred block, and place a pressure plate in front of the blocks you placed for the pistons.

It now should work peachy! Activate it by stepping on the pressure plates

This 1x2 Piston door is a Bit More Complex than the first one I made. This one, though, takes up a bit less space and requires a few more supplies.
NOTE** This is just another way for you to make a 1x2 piston door. You can choose either way that is comfortable with you.

You will need:

2 Pressure plates
2 Pistons
22 blocks of any. INCLUDES FILLING IN FLOOR.
1 Redstone torch
13 Redstone
