Welcome to a litte project for my Ego:
A HardDrive in Vanilla Minecraft, able to store almost 2kB of Data.





The Idea came into my head as i saw THIS post on Facebook. The little Redstoner in my head was all like "Challenge accepted!" and therefore i built this one, which can store double the amount of Data than the other one.
I build this in under a day, so its quite possible that its not the prettiest of builds or the most efficient or the fastest (I could try to make it way faster, but I'm afraid that there will be some major lags and therefore bugs if over 2800 Pistons fire inbetween half a second...)

This Design could easily be doubled in the amount of Storage it contains by doubeling the 8bit glassribbon to a 16bit one and mirroring the redstone to the other side aswell.

dude, that was 2 years ago. I'm sure you could build this on your own in a way more efficient way. I sadly don't have the time to overhaul/fix this thing myself. but I'm sure you can figure out the problem and fix it on your own ;)

Doesn't look like a hard drive to me.
I'd rather called it Solid State Drive.

Interesting, it seems to be the skeleton without functions like read-out/write and such. How long is the cycle time? The challenge you linked to was already 6~7minutes, so I gues a 12~14minutes.

Maybe you can store pictures inside, hook up a screen. Start with black & white for easiesnes and think of a way to read it properly out.

I haven't tryed the complete cycle time because this one is only built for fun and therefore its not too well done. in fact, all this thing does is circling around the redstone signal - what leads to the fact, that you have to wait until one round is completed before you can do the next one.



I'm fairly certain that i could make it go waaaaaaay faster (triggering all bottom/top pistons directely after each other, so inbetween 4-8 Redstoneticks the whole thing could be circling around (+ the ticks to transport the signal of course).
But like i already explained in my Post, i think this will lead to a couple Problems, if you fire 1400 Pistons in one second and another 1400 Pistons in the next second.







And that is actually a not too bad idea. sounds quite interesting, i'll try it if i find the time.
