Hey, Its been awhile since I uploaded anything, but I finally got this done so now I can! Decided to try and do something new that I haven't done before, a 100% terrain/landscape/survival build. Been working on this over the last couple of months whenever I can find time, don't have a lot of it lately. You are probably asking what this map has in it, its pretty basic:
-Custom terrain(mountains,forests,rivers,valleys,etc)
-Ores!
-Caves(lots of caves)
-Different biomes...and stuff
Pretty much all the usual stuff. Also, a quick note here, the map will put you in creative mode initially :
*****IF you want to play in survival mode, you have to go to options, click open to lan, click allow cheats ON, then start lan world. Go out of options then type /gamemode survival , and you should be set. If anyone knows a way to change it so you start in survival please let me know.
So I've been making mountains for quite some time now using Voxelsniper, and I see most people just using world painter to make them, which is much easier but it seems a lot of people don't take the time to make really nice, giant, detailed mountains. So I wanted to create a survival / build map centered around a mountain range. I call it a build map as well because I created a lot of the landscape on here with building things in mind. The mountains for example are perfect for large fortresses/castles/Ironforge-esque-dwarf cities, etc. Some of the taller peaks go up to 230 high. Theres also a few secrety thing in the map, so keep a look out :)
I used several programs to help make this map, the most used being voxel. The mounatins/trees/forests/valley were all made with voxel, and they took quite a while. The valley is acutally from another project of mine, I just pasted it in and fixed it up. I used World Painter to create the Island, set biomes, etc. I had to copy and paste the whole mountain range and valley onto my world painter map using MCedit, which was quite the pain. I also used World Painter to generate all the caves and ores after I got everything else done. To create the large forest, I built about 15 large trees and used voxel to paste them in many, many times. also used Sonic Ether's shader thingy for the screenshots.
I think thats about it...as usual, if theres a problem with the map or anything, or if you are having trouble with it at all, let me know.
