Produced in the same shipyards that designed and built the Sundance-class destroyer, the Achilles-class stealth destroyer was the pinnacle of belter shipbuilding when it was launched. The two vessels were launched incomplete from the Psyche docks and devoid of their stealth plating. They would finish fitting out inside the docks at 588 Achilles receiving new sensors and a unique thermoregulation system to help disguise the vessel as a wayward asteroid. Upon completion the Achilles and Patroclus joined the fleet of the Myrmidons, an elite privateer group loyal to the Confederation of Belt Colonies.
