Airmerwerewolf
Hello all! I'm back from a long project hiatus just in time to present you my entry for the solo contest! Here I'm experimenting organics through sculpting and posing muscle anatomic parts as guidance for shading and assembling the body. I'm not that great at shading in skins, but turns out I can shade in organics now, which is pretty neat. Enjoy!
FUN FACT:
Coalminers often used canaries to detect poisonous levels of carbon monoxide gas. Miners knew that if the canary passed out, they were in danger, too. The phrase “Canary in a Coalmine” derives from this history.

STORY - 'Encyclopedia of Dangerous Beasts Edition XVII'
Text Version
Lycan
The lycan is a monster once transformed from an infected human. They usually dwell in dense forest areas, particularly those remote from any high end villages. Resembling tall, bulky men with heads, limbs and tails of wolves, they are carnivorous and very hostile to any man or animal within their reach. They hunt most actively at night.
These beasts can be vanquished using firearms with silver-tipped ammunition. Recommended target regions are the head and the thighs. Beware of lunge attacks from far away, usually indicated by a loud growl.
Threat Level: 3
Current Population Status: Dropping
Merfolk
These aquatic creatures, divided into mermen and mermaids, are primitive inhabitants of deep underwater civilisations. They are humanoid and possess several fins, gills and a fish-like tail. They only surface in stormy seas and plunder lone sailboats and unprotected cruisers in large numbers, sometimes accompanied by other hostile sea creatures including sharks and giant squids.
They quickly dehydrate outside of any water body, making them vulnerable in hot regions or periods in the year. However, their scale bodies make them resistant to swords and arrowheads, and are unaffected by damp conditions.
Threat Level: 6
Current Population Status: Rising
Avian
Avians are flying humanoid birds native to mountainous lands. Similar to the majority of the intelligent races, they follow a territorial clan based on high summits, but usually hunt individually. According to recent surveillance, their surprise assaults were mostly for bringing victims up as offerings to nearby chieftains, but what is given in exchange is still unknown.
They are very mobile in air, allowing them to dodge incoming projectiles easily. However, spraying viscous fluids such as oil at them impedes their flight greatly. At close range, their talons at high speeds can penetrate several layers of hide armour.
Threat Level: 8
Current Population Status: Stationary

STORY - 'Letter to Sally'
Text Version
Yello, Sally,
Things going great here at the lakeside, and don't worry about that "dangerous beast" discovery tomfoolery they call about our son, because I ain't dead yet! And neither is the kid! The boy is doing fine, he's still getting used to his new body since you know, "the triple incident", and he's actually getting pretty darn good at fishin, if you dont mind those bites or claw marks of course (some byproduct of them pesky mutations).
I know you'll miss his old borin self, and i do too, but he's a changed (man?), and a better one at that! He's got a permanent wolf mask now, some mermaid shark tail thing and those hickory victory wings - too cool to disturb me when he's busy knocking down decor around the house (will fix em later). He's a bit thirsty too, finishing up two jugs of water a day! Although some things still stay the same - that smirky smile he wears on everyday, his continuous nightmares of them other beasts attacking him and that ambition sparking in his eyes at every morning.
It took me a long time to get used to things here and as much as i dont want more trouble in the family, i really want only great things to come to our son from now on. I even signed him up for training with the avian fellas (don't ask about it, and forget we ever had a dog), so he can at least be ready for that All-star Tournament prelims. He wont be a beast no more, but a superhero!
I hope you're doin okay at your new job in the city, ain't it pretty crowded? I know doing something like this isn't really legal, so could you do us a favour and burn this note after you're done reading? Hope to see you soon.
Alfred
