Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't uploaded big stuff in a while, but here's why! Actually, this is only one reason, with the other two being the Dauntlessand a stealth ship, the Nightwish, which has a unique non-floating design whose only merit is being extremely good at pissing me off. This is my first attempt at a trimaran ship in the direct style of the epic Independence-class US Navy LCS, but with my own additions, such as a sloped-sided hangar, stealthy hull design and in-hull lift engines.Anyway, specs for the Akira, named after my favorite Star Trek ship!
Class: Akira
Type: Trimaran Battlecruiser
First flown: 6/7/13
Length: 116m
Width: 55m
Height: 23m
Armament:
Powerplant: 1 Mk. II Cold Fusion Reactor
Thrust: 6 Aft-mounted nuclear thrusters.
Lift: 2 High-powered nuclear engines on rotating struts, 4 embedded in the hull.
Displacement: 10,000 tons
Stealth systems: Anti-radar coating, angled surfaces, signal emulator. (emulator can send back the radar signature of any object or creature in the ship's database, so the radar scan could come back as anything from a pigeon to an Iyectan city-ship,)
Commissioned ships: (Didn't try too hard for this, basically pulling animes from off the top of my head. Some of the names sounded better shortened or as the name of a character, so keep that in mind, and some appear more than once because I run out of ideas too quickly.)
Operating Ceiling: 45,000 feet
Designed by Skylord Brony as yet another experiment, development of the Akira-class was aimed at curbing the continuing flow of battleships from Iyecte. As the war progressed and Iyectan vessels only got stronger, the need for a semi-modular combat-only ship seemed dire. As a result, Akira's keel was laid down on 5/27/13, and construction is still continuing, although the ship is now flight-capable as of today. Originally built as a single-hulled weapons-filled cruiser, Brony suddenly decided that trimarans were cool, as was stealth, so he incorporated both elements into the vessel. In fact, the basic design has been so appealing to the admiralty that they have already commissioned 17 additional vessels, and are considering ordering more. One of the primary reasons Brony went with the trimaran, though, was his newest weapon, the AIM-666 "Demon" anti-airship missile. The Akirafits a total of four of these huge missiles on hardpoints mounted in-between the central and side hulls, protected almost on all sides by armor and ship. Possessing a nuclear warhead and an obsidian penetrating tip, the Demon is capable of punching through the strongest of known Iyectan armor, but is currently too big to be used in combat, since the Dauntlesslacks the hardpoint system on its airship docking area, the Sentinelfires different missiles, and it was never optimized for ground use. Should the Demon succeed in combat, though, there are plans to convert or add adapters to several Dauntless-class ships to be able to carry one or two such missiles in place of the usual Falconcarrier variant and AV-35 Phantasm gunship. Designed as the "grunt" of the Skylord Air Navy, the Akiraline is expected to be on the front line at all times, and at the forefront of any major battle.
More information will be available as time goes on.

Update #3 : by AirshipsEverywhere 09/20/2013 3:50:21 amSep 20th, 2013
So while technicallyI'm releasing this on a Friday, since it's a bit past midnight I think I'll say it counts as Thursday, so I'm on the release date, right?
Anyway, this is my LAST UPDATE!!!! WOOT! Yep, the Akirais finally done! Sorry it took 2 months to finish, I just got swamped by stuff. Anyway, the interior is now complete, a few exterior tweaks have been made, and the ship is finally ready for service!
NOTE: Got rid of the hull-mounted compression cannons due to lack of space.
And finally, now that this is out of the way, I can work on the Dauntless! Expect that finished product soon-ish, as in a month or so at most.

They're really just for holding the missiles/any attachments I design to be carried by them to make it more modular.
The last thing I want is the turrets to be taller. It was hard enough to build them so the rear-most turrets didn't hit the ones in front.
