Battle tower that I whipped up in about an hour (including fillin the dispensers with arrows)
shoots when you step on the pressure plate. door a the bottom. there's a very convenient water drop in one corner to descend rapidly.

There are three schematics: a bottom-up firing, top-down firing and an auto with toggle at the top.

Additional Notes

Use the lever as a toggle to fire arrows in the auto-fire,
Step on the the pressure plate to fire from the top or
Press a button at the bottom to fire the bottom-firing one.

An MCEdit Schematic is a file containing all the blocks that make up a structure, landscape or just basically a bunch of blocks. They can be imported using MCEdit (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/13807-mcedit-minecraft-world-editor-compatible-with-mc-beta-166/) or WorldEdit (you need Singleplayer Commands or Bukkit http://www.sk89q.com/projects/worldedit/).
I put three schematics that are slightly different in this project.
