The Ranger class is an offensively armed destroyer type light attack frigate. Armed with two, fixed forward-firing light railguns and four anti-fighter light cannons. The Ranger's regular function is as a medium-range scout and patrol ship.
While it is adequate as a patrol ship, where the truly Ranger excels is as an attack ship during major engagements. Flitting in and out of enemy fire arcs, the Ranger is designed to disable enemy capitol ships' thrusters and other exposed vital systems.
Whether escorting larger destroyers or leading a smaller group itself, the Ranger class is a welcomed addition to any admiral's battle fleet.
