I realize I might be a little late to the party but I wanted to put my own spin on the 9/11 memorials, and it took longer than I thought it would. Instead of making something incorporating the Twin Towers I wanted to build the planes involved in the attacks as those don't get nearly as much attention at the actual victims of the attacks.

This is a replica of American Airlines Flight 77, this was the plane that flew into the Pentagon. It was originally on its way from DC to LA, and for my understanding that was done on purpose so that there would be a lot of fuel to feed the fire. Another interesting tidbit about this flight is that for a little while it was confused with the first plane - American Airlines Flight 11 - and when this plane was hijacked the pilots weren't killed like on the 3 other planes, rather they were moved to the back of the plane along with all the other passengers and crew, and unlike the other 3 planes there were no bomb threats made from this one.
