Catedral Basílica Metropolitana de Santa Catalina de Alejandría Is the main Cathedral of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

It is the third church at this location the first being a wooden church built 1535 which was later destroyed in a fire.

After this a second church was build also made out of wood which was later replaced in the year 1575 by the current cathedral, due to it being too small and unrepresentative.

The current cathedral was started in the year 1575 and later as it was nearly finished Damaged during the Siege of Cartagena by the English pirate Francis Drake which also looted the city. This leaded to the cathedral not being finished until the 18th century as the City suffered a lot from the attack and funds were low. in the mid of the 18th century the bell tower was finally finished, topped with a marble crown of balusters and Pillars.

In the year 1922 the church was compeltely remodeled In neo baroque/gothic revival style Raising the tower about one more floor and adding a dome as its spire. The tower aswell got a lot more decorations, and the main facade got two side entrances were once large windows were placed at.
