This is a 1:1 reconstruction of the Centenarium Tibubuci, a roman fort which was in use in the fourth century as part of the Limes Tripolitanus in todays Tunisia.
The fort was built on a hill to overlook the surrounding terrain in the border region of the roman empire and was probably manned by a group of local militamen and their horses.

The 15m x 15m main building consisted of a single ground level room and barracks on the upper floor. The ground level room was probably used to house the horses of the fort.
Surrounding the main building a ~3 metre high wall enclosed the small plateau on which the fort was located.

And yes I agree, it's not the most impressive fort ever.

Sources I used:

The german wikipedia for a detailed summary (there is no english wikipedia article, sorry)

Paul Gauckler: Le Centenarius de Tibubuci (Ksar-Tarcine, Sud tunisien) which you can read here (in french obviously)

In the aforementioned Le Centenarius de Tibubuci you can also find this extremly helpful map which I wanted to highlight here.
