The Chicago Coliseum (the third one), was a exhibition and sports center in downtown Chicago built in 1900. It was demolished in the early 90's. Its a really cool and unique building with a pretty insane history. I was really surprised there are so few good pictures of it and almost no information or architectural drawings. That being said a lot of this is guesswork and incorrect to the actual build, but I think it at least nails the look of the building down quite well. The castle facade of the building is an old union prison (during the civil war) from Richmond that was transported brick by brick and rebuilt on the site in Chicago. There it became a civil war museum that was a popular tourist attraction. Shortly afterward, because the old Chicago coliseum burned down, the owner decided to build a new one behind the museum and use the castle as sort of a cool facade in front of it. Thus the Chicago Coliseum was born. I found this gem of a building reading about Theodore Roosevelt, as the 1912 progressive party political rally took place in this building, along with many other political rallies and sport games.
