I think you can make it smaller by (first picture) placing redstone dust after the first torch/repeater row and connect that to a inverter. In other words make a and-gate with four inputs.

But the correct/incorrect light is a nice addition to the contraption.

I rather try below first:
N=Nothing, D=redstone dust, T=redstone torch, R=repeater, L=lever, B=block
row1: T-B-D-D-D-D-D
row2: N-N-N-T-R-R-T
row3: N-N-N-B-B-B-B
row4: N-N-N-L-L-L-L
The row1 T acts as an inverter, it will turn on if the combination is correct.
Row 2,3 and 4 are basicly the same as in your build.
You, as a redstoner, should be able to build it functional with this little schematic.
