A digital display with memory cells + buttons, button to turn off all the lamps, works fast...

This mechanism is also used in my Vote Counter project. (A screen display with better look - to see how the screen works download the Vote Counter project)

i like it a lot! i just built one that rotates through them, based on the clock that cnbminecraft made. it might be helpful in that vote counter project you were talking to me about. it might be helpful for that, since it counts up to 10 and then starts over, and can be connected easily to other displays. check it out www.planetminecraft.com/project/display-counter-and-memory-array-programable-redstonepistoncomplex/

I already made a counter that can count up to 999 and it's much smaller than the 0-9 counter I made before, but i'm too lazy to re-make all the vote-counter system for the last version of the vote counter :)

The 0-999 counter can also be used as a timer :D

this one is actually really small, because you just program in the data, and it is extremely easy to connect to others.

My new counter is small too :)
anyways, I don't care about the counter anymore - I'm working on the automated farms right now...
I can send you the schematic of the 0-999 counter if you want.
