Este convento em Alcântara-Lisboa foi construido em 1582 para servir um grupo de freiras Holandesas que veio á pressa para Portugal por causa do príncipio da Guerra dos oitenta anos. Encontrando paz neste convento as freiras dedicaram-no a Nossa Senhora da Quitação,

Nos séculos seguintes o interior do convento foi sendo remodelado do estilo Renascentista par o Estilo Maneirista.
No Terramoto de 1755, este convento foi um dos poucos edíficios a sobreviver sem danos nenhuns este triplo desastre.





This convent in Alcântara-Lisbon was built in 1582 to serve a group of dutch nuns who came in a hurry after the beginning of the Eighty years war. By finding peace in this convent the nuns decided to dedicated it to Our Lady of Quietation.

In the next centuries the interior of the convent was being remodeled from Renaissance style to Mannerist style.
In the Earthquake of 1755, this convent was one of the very few buildings who survived without a scar to this triple disaster.
