Level 32 : Artisan Cake

This tall tower has been standing here for as long as anyone alive can remember and was built on the location where the Elves were first put on the Earth by their Gods. It is used as a place for the wisest to gather and meditate. On the top floor floats a magical crystal, which was gifted to the Elves by the lord of the Elvish Gods. Only the wisest of the wise may enter this floor and only during a crisis, and use the crystal to communicate with the Gods. As far as we know, this has only happened nine times. They sat there for weeks, and when they finally came down the stairs, they were exhausted. They wrote down what they had learned in the Book of Wisdom, before falling on the floor and sleeping very deep for days...

Recently expansion of the tower started. Not higher up into the sky, but deep into the ground, to better communicate with the Gods of Earth, because everything points to a new crisis developing deep underground...

It's a great build, but one thing;

Too much detail! Usually when builders only just started seriously building they often tend to over detail their walls. I built like that once. But seriously, keep it subtle. Sorry, I don't mean to be cynical, I'm just trying to help a little.

He's a lot better than you, no offence intended. It looks good to me. I can't see how removing the fences would have made the build anything but worse. Low detail levels in megabuilds designed to look great in renders and from a distance is totally different from builds designed at a one chunk scale. Some people have essentially done only a facade for this challenge, as if it was part of a bigger build. Credit to the uploader for following the goal of the contest to the letter and building an entire structure. As such, he has to detail a smaller build. Smaller build, finer detail.

No offence taken!

I'm not quite sure if you know what I really mean. Some builders like this type of design, most builders hate it.
(And also, we all have to build in the same size. He didn't do it because he wanted to. :P) And I repeat, I once built like that. Nobody liked it as much. It is a very good build, but it could definitely be improved. No one's perfect, of course.

The main reason for the amount of detail is that that is just what I think of with a high-elven style. I usually don't use as much detail as this, but for this building it just felt like a good thing to me. I do understand that some people may not like this as much as a less detailed build though.
