In case you haven't noticed, I've been doing a burst upload. This is based off of a drawing I made of one of the two classes of Roman amphibs, inspired by the San Antonio class of the US Navy. I really had fun with this build, from the general design to working with what interior is built to the camo pattern, I think this was one of the more fun waterborne craft I've tried. It was weird sometimes because this is a doomed class (see the lore section) but I think the end result was worth it.

The Fabius class, named after Roman general Quintus Fabius Maximus of the Second Punic War, is a type of amphibious assault ship of the Imperial Roman Navy. As a Landing Platform Dock, it has limited aviation capabilities in exchange for a large cargo carrying capacity and an extensive well deck for smaller landing craft. The class was commissioned to replace the aging Antony-class LPDs as one half of a typical navy Amphibious Readiness Group, the other half being a Mithras-class Landing Helicopter Dock assault ship. Between the two vessels is one whole legion. The Romans do not have an Army and Marine Corps like many other nations, as every legion is essentially a Marine Expeditionary Unit. Self-sufficient and compact, they are tailor made for expeditionary warfare, and thus the Roman "Marine Corps" are really Army legions with additional training in amphibious warfare. The Aviation, Aviation Support, and Infantry cohorts are based on the LHD while the Fabius carries the Armored, Light Armored, Mechanized, Logistics, and Support cohorts. Together they can field an entire legion anywhere within six hours, even faster when the primary enemy is just across the Mediterranean. The camouflage pattern does nothing to disperse radar or infrared homing missiles, although electronic countermeasures and a stealthy shape try, and instead serves to help hide the ship visually from manually-fired shore based batteries, still a threat in the age of guided missiles. With powerful engines, a huge cargo capacity, and assault boats to assist in landing operations, the Fabius on its own can serve as a QRF in a box, and when paired with the missiles and railguns of a Zama-class, a Roman ARG can be a major pain in the tail for hostile forces.
Despite its capabilities, there are currently no Fabius-class ships afloat. When the Imperial Territories of the Skylords first began their assault on the world, the unlucky XII ARG with the IRS Agricola was one of their first victims. The Skylords and their airships, advanced weapons, and surprise quickly began to take over the world, throwing the major powers into disarray. Slowly but surely, the massive Roman Navy was eroded away by precision orbital strikes, airship ambushes, and naval engagements. However, three months into the war, Roman and Americati planners noticed that the ITS was spread dangerously thin. They decided to try defending by attacking, launching a major amphibious and naval assault on Black Reef, ten nautical miles off the coast of the ITS. Gathering a massive force of surviving Shogunate, Americati, and Roman warships, the fleet stabbed its way directly to Black Reef, even launching missiles and gunfire into the continental ITS itself. The end goal was to land troops embarked aboard assault ships of all three navies to cause some havoc on the Skylords' home turf. This shock unfortunately jolted Skylord planners to their senses, and a swift retaliation saw the wiping out of the assault fleet, including all but one of the remaining Fabius classes. The IRS Vitallion survived for an additional two weeks before it was sunk in the Battle of Portus Julius, its hulk maneuvered in an attempt to block Skylord access to the Roman base while it was destroyed to prevent its usage by the Skylords. The delay caused by the wreck of the Vitallion enabled Rome to "disable" two under-construction Zama classes and prepare her surviving warships for a last stand. In the Final Battle of Portus Julius, Rome ultimately lost after causing great losses to the ITS. Two days later, the city fell, and two weeks later, the last Roman legion surrendered. This signified the end of an era and the beginning of Imperial Skylord dominion, symbolized by the public Skylord scrapping of the remains of the defiant Vitallion.
