Harlond

Lore

This is ArdaCraft's recreation of Harlond, an elven seaport in Harlindon, a land to the west of the Shire. By the time of The Lord of the Rings, it had been continuously inhabited for six thousand years by the Sindar Elves.

It was situated in a small inlet about 150 miles south-west of Mithlond. After the War of Wrath, Galadriel and Celeborn came to Lindon with the other survivors of Beleriand. They ruled from Harlond over the whole fiefdom of Harlindon, which was composed mostly of Sindar, under the High King Gil-galad. Eventually the couple moved to a new land called Eregion far to the east of Lindon, and Harlond's role in the history of Middle-earth is unknown after that point.

Construction

Harlond is our second-largest city yet, eclipsed only by Mithlond. Owing to the slow but constant departure of Elves from Middle-earth, only around half of the houses in Harlond are inhabited, and the rest are either entirely abandoned or simply empty.

Harlond forms part of a larger project which seeks to recreate Middle-earth in its entirety. Credit goes to Kemce for leading this project, and to the entire community of builders for helping out.

Harlond can be viewed from above on ArdaCraft's dynmap. There is no download avaliable, but ArdaCraft is a non-whitelisted server which anyone is welcome to come and explore, provided they have installed our modpack first.
