Welcome to the town of Ivittuut,

Ivittuut is a small viking settlement in a Greenland like terrain which was completelly made with worldpainter. These vikings are farmers and hunters, killing walrus for their precious ivory tusks and meat to supplement their diet, protecting themselfs against the threat of polarbears and trading their furs and killing various other land and sea mammals.

The name Ivittuut was the name of the middle viking settlement on Greenland, to which the settlements name is a reference. We've tried to come up with our "own" viking style, which is a derivative of the classical longhouse design vikings lived in and blended in some of our own creativity and some minecraft practices. We hope that people like this style as well, it's somewhat modest compared to other viking styles but we are quite satisfied with the shapes and details. The vikings had the practice of just killing people and living in their houses so they didn't have that much own architecture. Only a small part of the island has been developed, more builds are to come and will be in a different viking style, "Kievan 'Rus" style.

In the video Lentebriesje narrates a bit more of everyday life in this settlement, what things to look at, the story behind them, etc. We really hope you like this "new" viking style, feedback on the subject is much appreciated.

In the skinning hut there should have been animal skins drying on the walls

That's not a bad idea but how would you go about doing that in Minecraft? Other than changing paintings to skinned animals I can't think how it could be done in a way that looks good.

Orange skins. Orange for as in the dried inside of the skin not the furry outside.

It would be more logical if you had instead of netherack put gravel for the fire pits.

Wouldn't the village flood when the water rises when the snow melts? Also there's smoke coming out of the skinning hut when there's no fire.
