House Stanson was a noble family that resided in what is now called The Dread shore. It used to be a thriving city until the first massive Viking invasion under the command of Ragnar Konquerorrinn. When the Vikings took the city they burned it to the ground. But one man called Edward Stanson was able to shoot Ragnar with an arrow.
When the invasion was over a few soldiers along with Edward Stanson were lined up and Ragnar asked them,through a translator, who the man was who shot him. Edward bravely said: “I shot you”. Ragnar wanted to kill him but Edward said: “You’re a coward, killing the man who bested you in fair combat”. Ragnar laughed and thought about it. Ragnar asked what you would have him do instead. Edward challenged him to a shooting contest so Ragnar could prove he was better than him. But.. Edward said.. If I beat you, you have to let me and my family go. Ragnar agreed. So they released a deer through the ruined city and whoever shot it first won. They both stood over a somewhat remaining tower from the castle of the city. And Edward won. Ragnar did keep his promise and let Edward go. To this day this legend is talked about and it built the foundation for house Stanson. In fact, when Ragnar got in the lands of Vlasith, unbeknownst to them it was Edwards arrow that got him ill, because it was a poisoned arrow that was slow acting. When the Vikings disappeared, Stanson was one of the few remaining Families in the lower Midlands.
Slowly but surely house Stanson became the overlord of the lower Midlands and became more powerful. The vikings later returned from Vlasith under the rule of a higher vampire. This posed major problems but now after years of war it seemed to finally be over.
After they hired mercenaries and bought weapons from the mighty house Lockstrong. Nowadays their main seat is in the North-Eastern part of the lower midlands,on castle Witich overseeing the town of Novarbo.
Their banner is still that of a deer, as a symbol of what they came from.
