When the night god dances,
The earth trembles.
Nothing is lasting.
All is safe.
His toes wrap around the trees.
The grass fans beneath his heels.
Legs thick as hills swing circles over meadows,
Slashing gales across the glass of lakes.
The moon is shining on his skin.
The stars are blotted by his face.
And when he yawns
To lithely sink
Into a bed of oaks,
The whole world answers chirping soft,
Then roaring sunlit wakes.
