Well, it's been many months but don't worry, I'm back ;). Today I present to you the 2-funneled motor ship 'Thomas Panke'.
ABOUT THIS VESSEL:
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Thomas Panke was a passenger ship of the königlich württembergischer LLoyd. She was mainly used on the South Atlantic route with destination Brazil or Argentina.
The shipping company ordered the ship from Friedrichsburger Friedrichswerke in 1924. In the years that followed, work on the Thomas Panke was carried out at full speed. The commissioning took place on 26 November 1927 in the presence of chancellor Wilhelm Marx.
The Thomas Panke was designed for about 537 passengers in second class and 1228 in third class. On the other hand, there were 391 crew members to look after the well-being of the passengers. In addition, the ship had 4 diesel engines that drove the two propellers.
Between 1927 and 1939, the Thomas Panke made about 400 voyages, including cruises under the flag of the KDF fleet.
At the outbreak of WW2, the Thomas Panke was moored in the port of Civitavecchia in Italy, which was allied with Nazi Germany. There she was converted into a hospital ship before returning to Germany. From 1940 until the end of the war, the Thomas Panke served as a hospital ship for the German navy. After the war, the ship was confiscated in Cuxhaven by the Western Allies as a reparation payment and given to the US Navy. The US Navy used the ship for two years as a troop carrier and officers' base under the name George Washington.
Finally, the former Thomas Panke was bought by a Dutch shipping company in 1947 and renamed Zeechat. Both the exterior and the interior of the ship were generously rebuilt and modernised. Under the Dutch flag, the Zeechat sailed for 12 more successful years until she was finally sold in 1959 and scrapped.

Trigger warning: This vessel is named after the German web video producer & retailer Thomas Panke. This is historically inaccurate, but it is a fictional ship so please understand :) This ship, just like its history, is completely fictional!
