Messerschmitt Bf 110

The Messerschmitt Bf 110 was a German twin engine heavy fighter.  Early on in the war it was initially succesful.  It's lack agilityin the air was it's greatest weakness, but special air tactics could mostly sort this problem.  However when used as a bomber escort in the battle of Britain it became easy prey for the RAF fighters.  

The Bf 110 was used as a night fighter bomber hunter, in the latter years of WW2, a job which suited it very well, most german night fighter aces had used the Bf110 at some point.

The Bf 110 was also used succesfully as a ground attack aircraft, but it required air superiority to really work well.
