This game works best in 1.9.0+

UPDATE (05/12/2016):

I've been informed that the Chance and Community Chest card dispensers were not working correctly
... whoops! Well, they're fixed now... 8 months later......

Also, the player token system has been updated to work with 1.9 and up (latest is currently of 1.9.4)

===============================

UPDATE (09/02/2015):

So I really wasn't planning on working on this again... I've been developing a simplified randomizer for another project, and decided to merge it into the card dealer here. The card dealer/shuffler is now greatly simplified. Instead of needing to manually shuffle the cards with a dispenser system, all the player needs to do is pick a card by pressing the button, then discard it in the adjacent chest.

Also, I did a little...decorating (signs are colorful now!)

===============================

UPDATE (08/02/2015):

Quick update, I've finally got around to updating the dice to be compatible with Minecraft versions 1.8.5 and later.

Also, Since so many people have been having problems with .rar files, I have recompressed it as a .zip instead.

===============================

UPDATE (5/27/2015):

Apparently in the new 1.8.5 and 1.8.6 updates, dispensers placing and executing preprogrammed command blocks is no longer supported, so the randomizer built into the dice in this project is only compatible with Minecraft versions up to 1.8.4. The rest of the map should function as intended. I will make an effort to revise this soon.

UPDATE (4/28/15)
:
- Replaced the dice with a new build that uses dispensers instead of a clock (much more reliable).

UPDATE (2/15/15):
- Fixed the decorative "security camera" skulls at the bank, some users were complaining they showed up as a pink haired anime character
- Replaced the house/hotel system. Instead of armorstands, players now use player skulls textured to look like houses (circuitry is still in place for the original armorstand system under the board, for those that wish to experiment)
- Added instruction booklet to card sorter/dispenser machines
- Set default dice clock speed to slow; seems to work better on servers
- Corrected a few small typos in chance/community chest cards

----------------------

Complete! (Or, at least as complete as its going to get; I've pretty much run out of steam on this project). I've spent the past 3 months on and off (...more off than on, really) recreating the board game Monopoly!

This project was actually inspired by the Achievement Hunter Monopoly video, but only partly. When I started this, I'd only really planned to see if I could come up with a better dice system, since they just used a dispenser filled with random junk and arbitrarily assigned number values to them. These dice generate two pseudo-random numbers and use command blocks to display them (8/02: the dice system now uses Minecraft's @r random target selector to choose a random number). I even got a little fancy and used some note blocks to make it sound like the dice were actually being thrown, with mild success. The redstone clock for the dice is a liiitle temperamental, so I included a few controls on the bottom right side of the right die, to reset the clock (in case it gets jammed and throws out the number 7 when rolled).

After that, I started to wonder if I could improve their card system. They didn't even try to use Minecraft for the cards; instead, they just filled a hat with paper scraps. This machine will randomly shuffle and deal a standard deck of 16 Chance/Community Chest cards (9/02: this machine has been heavil simplified by updating it to use the @r random target selector). I used a command generator to create all the cards from both Chance/Community Chest decks (after much trial and error).

Of course, Monopoly also needs a bank. Inside you'll find a number of services, including a Finance Officer (for setting up new players with their initial funds), a Token Management Machine (for player tokens), a Real Estate Agent (for building Houses/Hotels), and a Record Keeper (in case a property card is lost)

Player tokens are handled by using chicken spawn eggs named with a color. When you spawn it, the chicken will be auto-killed and replaced with an armor stand with colored leather armor. I've picked a few to demonstrate.

In the center of the board goes money from random events in the game; luxury tax, chance cards, etc. These fund are transferred to a chest on the Free Parking space.

When you buy or mortgage a property, you can use the ATM outside the Bank for quick access to funds and Property cards. Monopoly money is carpet blocks named with the dollar amounts they represent. The carpet colors were selected to match actual Monopoly money color. The left chest contains 50 of each bill ,and automatically refills after each opening. The right chest contains Property cards for all spaces.

In the Bank, the Real Estate Agent can help you build Houses and Hotels! This feature is in beta, and likely won't be fine-tuned (as I'm more or less done with this project). Like the player tokens, he will give you a named chicken spawn egg. The chicken will be auto-killed and replaced with a House or Hotel! These houses are created using a series of invisible armor stands holding a block, rotated to just the right position so as to look like they're placed together.
(Houses and hotels are now handled using player skulls).

I borrowed this method from Magib1 on reddit. They created a spreadsheet that made creating the commands to do this incredibly simple. The downside of these is the sheer number of armor stands you need per House/Hotel, creating a significant amount of lag. There's not really a way around it, unfortunately... For anyone actually planning to play using this map, I'd recommend either simply using a single block to represent a House/Hotel, or maybe two of the unused player token colors.

---

In the end, I could have done much more on this project. I had considered using the scoreboard system to automatically track money and property ownership, but half the fun of Monopoly is keeping everyone on their toes, forcing people to pay attention to when players land on their properties, trying to do quick simple math, maaaybe slipping a few extra bills from the bank when no ones looking... ;) So I tried not to automate too much.

Well I download the map & it seems everything is on. The only problem is the command blocks. I can't get it to work. I am trying to do it for my server.
