Author's Note:

This is a refit of BacccaYarro's Behemoth-class Command Ship for the movecraft plugin. It features the iconic upgraded command bridge, a very detailed interior, weapon refits and multiple "exotic" modifications. This ship was the first movecraft related project I ever started, dating back to almost a year ago, as I've always wanted to refit the behemoth. multiple results emerged over time, but this one was undoubtedly the most satisfying. It may or may not fly, I haven't tried personally... But if it does, beware, as it's sheer size may lag your server and/or PC. Credit for the ingenious bombing system goes to Knarlet, and BaccaYarro for the original Behemoth. It features very fancy interior, probably the best interior I've put into a ship so far... enjoy!

This ship flies using the movecraft plugin, but the redstone devices work without it (Although that depends on the version.)

Beware that the redstone devices may not work on some newer versions. This ship was built on the airship pirates server, thus this stock model rellies on it's redstone mechanics.


Background

The Sovereign was perhaps the single biggest airship built by France's navy during it's lifetime. Built upon a captured Behemoth-class Command Ship towards the beginning of the age of airskiff designs, the Sovereign was one of the mightiest and most prideful ships in the navy. When word reached the admiralty that one of these gargantuan airships had been captured, many were not interested. Most, if not all, were rightfully focusing primarily on the construction of newer, more advanced airship and fighter designs to keep up with rival shipyards and nations. Admiral Home saw fit to take management of the vessel, following the loss of the navy's flagship, the Ship-of-the-Line Implacable of the Soleil Royal-class. the Behemoths were largely hollow and extremely modular, making them prime targets for refitting. Work on the Sovereign began discretly at more secret french shipyards. Not much political resistance towards the refitting of the vessel was heard, although many if not most suggestions leaned towards the idea of scrapping the giant vessel for parts. This is not the fate it would recieve, however.

Built along with the newer french warship designs, the Sovereign spent a good portion of her life in it's drydock for refitting. Many plans and scrapped ideas were stacking, and these two things had an unpleasant correlation. The sovereign was close to be scrapped, but was saved by the intelligence of the engineers and shipwright who took it upon themselves to refit her. Thus, the vessel became a technological wonder of the day, and as it emerged instantly became an incredible source of pride for France, and an impressive propaganda tool. Her increased lift and fine internal compartments were already a great improvement; but the ship's features did not stop there.

The vessel was armed with primitive - but deadly - super heavy artillery scattershot cannons, which had more range and firepower than any other ship of the day, firing devastating volleys that almost no ship could hope to take without being disabled, or entirely destroyed. the firepower of these cannons was used to great effect as the Sovereign quite famously sank one of three royal navy battleships with only five concentrated (and lucky) shot, causing a surrendering and a massive naval victory. Additionally, the ship's anti-aircraft defenses were significantly improved, nearly tripled. The port and starboard defensive rings were modified to bring to bear more AA guns for a full coverage. Not only that, but most of those guns were multi-purpose guns, equipped with a lava ignition system to set afire ground projectiles for ground assault, a feature which was employed to deadly and devastating effect against ground troops.

The vessel's single most advanced asset was undeniably it's advanced bombing system. Designed upon the idea of the "scatter" bomb dropping technique that was previously used on the Behemoth-class (and, in the french navy, on the Bouvet-class). the amount of bombs to be deployed was nearly trippled, thus rendering the coverage must greater, allowing the Sovereign to deploy a coverage large enough to hit an entire small town or military base whilst staying almost entirely static. But the big advancement was that this firing cycle was entirely automatic. Tihs bombing device was used in at least three frighteningly devastating bombings, with many officers aboard the surrounding ships being extremely surprised and almost frightened by the ship's fearsome bombardment. Finally, a last combat feature that was added was a much larger triple layered hangar bay, carrying the very best available fighters of the french navy, with the experimental 'Warbird" Air Superiority Fighters (later renamed to Dassault Mirage) and Stormhawk heavy interceptors (renamed to the same class) along with one Bloch 220 Troop Transport, one deadly Demolisher-class Gunskiff (the single strongest gunship of the day) and two Silencer ground assault fighter (similarily renamed to Dassault Strafer later.)

Although the military prowesses of the vessel were undeniable and recognized, they were few; for the ship remained at port for a large portion of her existence for a single, simple reason; it was extremely costly in ressources, and vulnerable. Most importantly, it's notoriety and deadly deeds left it as a "wanted warship", being constantly hunted whenever deployed, even sometimes being victim of sabotage causing malfunctions. The Sovereign ended up like so many gargantuan ships of her kind; whilst a popent symbol of power and pride, she participated in multiple (but few) battles before it was considered for her to be retired. Ironically, her last mission before her planned retirement was her grave; due to said planned retirement, the vessel was sent in it's mission with a very limited escort, one that proved insufficient to protect it against the fighter wings of two fleet carriers which had been dispatched to bring down the Sovereign. After hours of fierce fighting on both sides, the Sovereign, breached and set ablaze in multiple emplacements, went down sinking roughly 3/4 of the attacking aircraft. Upon her massive wreck was built a popular war memorial upon which her sailors - and the sailors of the surrounding escort vessels and attacking fighters - were listed , their names written on the parts of the hull sticking out of her enveloppe.


Armament:

x2 1230R9 Mk3 Heavy Cannons - Twin heavy artillery cannons linked to a single firing system. each cannon fires a staggering total of 84 TNT per shot, and each uses 17 propellant. Fuse can be configured from the gun deck, along with the amount of projectiles, by toying with the repeter clicks.
x64 AA Guns; 26 port, 26 starboard, 8 Dorsal, 2 aft. 38 of these AA Guns have a lava ignition possibility, controlled on the main bridge.
x1 Automatic Cluster Bomb Dropper. A very advanced device that automatically shoots 24 TNT per volley in a scattered pattern. Controlled from the bomb bay.
