MS Rosenheim is named after the Bavarian city of Rosenheim, located south of Munich in the Alpine upland.
Launched in 1938, she was primarily built for service in the Mediterranean Sea, but, early on in her career, she would become one of the company's first experimental cruise ships.
Compared to the bigger ships in RCL's repertoire, she features fewer luxurious amenities aboard, as the focus was more on providing affordable vacation to the German working class, and, during specific cruise services, Tourist Class and First Class weren't strictly seperated.
She continued her service as a cruise ship after WW2 (during which she was heavily damaged and, miraculously, survived), until she was finally taken out of service and sold for scrap in 1973.
