Welcome to the Abandonment Project's new home.
For a long time, Hollow Hill sat atop a modified vanilla terrain that was piecemealed together with WorldEdit, and for all intents and purposes that was fine enough. In the back of my mind I had always wanted to expand the terrain far past the campus of the hospital and town limits, for those extra curious adventurers. Now that AP is independent of the server it was once tethered to - here we are...
This map has been in the works since earlier this year (2023), and emulates some of the geographical features of Scotland and the UK. Each crevice of the map has been carefully constructed with as much detail as I can possibly fit.
Some geographical features include;
- Salt Marshes
- Highlands
- Lowlands
- River Basins
- River Valleys
- Mountains
- Rolling Hills
- Sheer Cliff Walls
- Coastal Rock Features
There will be many updates to this in the coming weeks & months as new areas are developed! I will try to keep this post updated to the best of my ability. If you want to see more frequent updates, I strongly suggest joining the AP Discord Server or checking out my other Socials.

the coastal features and the river terrain are so good, how difficult were they to paint in World Painter?
In both of the terrain showcase videos, I use the Kappa Shaders with a bit of tweaking!
As far as the coastal stuff goes - it took a TON of trial and error to get the erosion shape & texture. Lots of using annotation layers to create masks, lots of texturing work, and a lot of patience lol. I had to re-do those several times to get the 'look' I was going for.
Here's an example of that:
The river terrains were actually fairly simple - just a lot of different texturing brushes & object layers!

I took a peek at your terrains and WOW! Do you use WorldMachine or Gaea in your works? They look incredible!
Shaping some of these rock features seems to be my bane in WP.
