Comprising of 42 stations, 6 distinct underground lines, and nearly 21 kilometers of track, the Omelas Metro System is a hallmark of Minecraft transportation, providing members of my server an quick and efficient way to reach almost all settled parts of the server.
The system was first begun in January of 2011 when the early members of the server realized that moving around such a large server was very time consuming. Later that month, ground was broken on the Central Line to make a connection to west to Williamson Square, and eventually north to the City Port. Shortly thereafter, ground was broken on the Schuhton Line, heading northeast from Grand Central to Dalton Plaza and northwest to Schuh Square.
In March, the system underwent it's first major expansion. Ground was broken on the River and Piccadilly Lines, as well as the Norse Line, which became the first subway line to move above ground after leaving the city walls before continuing on to Valhalla. The Central line was soon to follow with its extension to West Forest and Mills Mine. In April, construction began on the South City Line, but it was put on indefinite hold due to a lack of potential ridership at the time.
In late May of 2011, the entire system was shut down when the original form of Minecart boosters ceased to work. An overhaul of the entire system was begun in which all lines were replaced with the new standard boosters and the South City Line was finally completed. The system re-opened on June 20th and has operated continuously since. The system continues to expand to this day.

Additional Notes
The next major extension being planned includes expanding the Piccadilly, Central, and River Lines further eastward, as they currently have remained unchanged at their eastern ends since they were first constructed. There are also plans to extend the Norse Line further northwest and the Piccadilly and South City lines further west.Credit | SamDalton, MirkaMirka, Dudebro |
