Since Minecraft Beta 1.7.1 came out, I was able to create this Piston-Powered Wheat Harvester without having the black screen pop up. Basically, when this Lever is down, all 3 of the Pistons close the flow of the water. When it is up, it opens the water flow, then the water travels down 2 blocks and wipes out the whole Wheat Farm, giving you your harvest and seeds. Then you are able to refill the farm back up, and wait for it to grow.

I use this for every survival map ive done, the easiest auto farm around, just thot id let u know, heres a diamond i musta forgot to give u one when i first saw it.

There are many other ways to making it simpler, but this is just my concept :P If you want to, replace the Wooden Door with a Fence Gate, much better! And thanks for the Diamond <3

oh deff ive modified it many times over and have made it much better each time, but, i wud not havee thot of this design in the first place lol

:P Do whatever you need to make it look more appealing, I don't claim full credit on this contraption; although parts were inspired by separate things. Have fun using it :)

could improve the efficiency by adding more rows of soil in between the water. It is not required to be right next to water to have the soil hydrated. Water will hydrate soil up to 4 blocks away

I know, but I just like it that way, and like to make sure it gets hydrated fully and doesn't take long to do so.
