I received a request for a map with lots of wide open plain area for building a city, a forested area, a mountain, and a river. Thus the Plains of Faroth was created. In addition to the mountain there are two hilly areas that are forested and the plains feature bushes and a sparse population of trees. The river runs from a lake at the foot of the mountain through the plains and to the ocean. The map is 3000x3000.

If you like it I'd appreciate it if you left a diamond. Plus, if you happen to build anything on it I would love to see screenshots. The map is uploaded in creative mode. It's ready for survival though with all resources spawned so feel free to mine to your heart's content. Changing the map from creative to survival is easy. Google it to find out how.

The map is meant to be viewed in the Conquest Resource Pack as it takes advantage of the metadata. I also use the Better Grass and Leaves mod that makes trees look a whole lot cooler.

Additional Notes

Thanks to MonsterFisher for the resource pack
Thanks to Poersch for the Better Grass and Leaves mod
Thanks to Lentebriesje for the Custom Trees

Absolutely. If you visit my first map, North Island, you'll see that I give him all the credit in the world for inspiring me to work on maps. I'm still learning and expanding my knowledge but you'll likely always see remnants of his inspiration in my work. The only reason I don't mention him in every map I upload is because I don't want to repeat myself. I got into map making because I wanted to play on the stuff he was making but he never uploads the big maps.

World Machine is part one of the process. I'm not terribly good at it so it takes a hell of a long time to shape the map, including lots of back and forth between it and WorldPainter and Minecraft to make sure the changes I'm making are working. I think using it instead of just making a map in WorldPainter creates a better look but so far it's been a time consuming process to make something I really like.

I agree, it is quite complex, and will probably take a while to get used to!
