Each ingame tile in the overworld is 2x2 Minecraft blocks and 1x1 in caves and tunnels and such, with the height depending on the situation. Ledges are thus achieved by a two-block drop-off and ramps by a single block you will have to jump.

If you see any Chiselled Stone Bricks, those are markings for where the buildings will be. Cerulean and on has them.

Sponge is being used to mark out where trees will go.

The game does not conform to a height map. The ledges are illusions. I have been having to make many design decisions because of that. The most notable one is Cycling Road. I completely customized that, straying far from the game, to make the heights match up.

I may revisit this with 1.7 if I get this completed before then. More block types will be helpful, but the most notable is the dirt that grass will not grow on. There are several dirt paths that I am currently using sand for.

If I had to redo this project (which I hope I won't, but these are things to keep in mind for if/when I do R/S/E):
-Find, thru maps, the absolute lowest point and start there.
-Remember to build North. Copying and rotating and pasting your whole map makes your computer mad at you.
-Make each tile ingame equal to 3x3 blocks in Minecraft for all parts of the map (overworld or not). This will help keep things centered that need to be and allow more room for detail.

Yeah, I got to a point where I was happy enough with it and uploaded this. I was dead tired. I'll take some screenshots later.
