Description
Raven St is a medieval cobbled street on the southern part of St Philip Square. It is several metres lower than the rest of the square, but it curves up to join with butcher row towards the west. Its history dated back to around mid-15th century, when most buildings on the street was first constructed. Most buildings are the original Tudor/timbered house and shops, but some (the eastern part) have been replaced with Georgian and Tudor revival buildings.
It also houses what is believed to be the oldest remaining house in the town, built around the late 14th century. The building is now a pub called "The Horseshoes Inn."
