RHMS Patris

The RHMS Patris was made in 1950 as the RMS Bloemfontein Castle for Union Castle Lines. During this service, not many things actually occurred, apart from the rescue of people from the similarly named Klipfontein after she struck a sunken U-Boat in 1953. In 1959, after only 9 years of service, she was sold to Chandris Lines,and she became the RHMS Patris, their first big ship. During this time she would provide a successful and reliable service to Australia and the UK, and would be so successful they bought their next ship not too long afterwards. As a final job, she was temporarily a refuge centre after a cyclone hit Darwin city. She remained in service with Chandris until 1975, when she was sold off to another Greek shipping company, who named her Mediterranean Star. She became a Ro-Ro Ferry, and was finally sold to Pakistani Ship breakers in 1987.

A note from me: This Ship is certainly a favourite of mine, and i feel i have not done enough. I cant seem to find much images of her upper decks where all the ventilators are, but i tried. This also took me a while as i constantly lost interest and began building other things out of boredom, or not doing anything at all. Thanks!
