Rohan Fortress

Inspired by the Lord of the Rings Jam, I've finally rebuilt the Rohan fortress. About seven years ago, I played the Edain Mod for Battle for Middle-earth II. My main reason for playing the mod was Rohan, because I'd always liked it and really missed it in the second game. I deliberately played an older version of the Edain Mod back then, one where you could still build freely and hadn't yet reverted to the fixed strongholds from the first game. At the time, I practically recreated all the Rohan structures from the mod in Minecraft; then my hard drive suffered a serious data error and I had to format it. That's how the beautiful Rohan buildings were lost, and I've been angry and sad about it ever since. Now, the Jam has inspired me to finally draw a line under it and simply rebuild something from the series.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the mod, and I don't know how easy it would be to get and install the older version these days. I still have an old screenshot from before the hard drive crash, which I took back then for blueprint drawings. Unfortunately, the angle isn't ideal. I used it as a rough inspiration for the construction, but I probably would have had to make the wall sections significantly longer to create a true replica. Therefore, I deviated from the original in a few places, which is particularly noticeable in the main building in the middle, where it sits atop the wall.

Considering the circumstances, I'm still satisfied and think it has a Rohan feel to it. I will definitely use the structure in the role-playing world and then enhance it with interior furnishings.

Inspiriert durch die Herr der Ringe Jam habe ich nun endlich nochmal die Rohan Festung gebaut. Vor mittlerweile bestimmt um die 7 Jahren hatte ich mal das Edain Mod von Schlacht um Mittelerde 2 gespielt. Der Hauptgrund für mich die Mod zu spielen war insbesondere Rohan, weil ich Rohan irgendwie immer mochte und es seht im zweiten Teil vermisst hatte. Ich hatte bewusst damals eine ältere Edain Mod gespielt wo man noch das freie Bauen hatte und noch nicht zu den festen Stützpunkten aus dem ersten Teil zurückgegangen ist. Damals hatte ich dann auch praktisch alle Rohanbauwerke aus dem Mod in Minecraft nachgebaut; und dann hatte meine Festplatte einen schweren Datenfehler und ich muss formatieren. So gingen die schönen Rohan Gebäude verloren und ich bin seit dem sauer und traurig. Nun hat mich die Jam dazu inspiriert endlich einen Schlussstrich zu ziehen und einfach nochmal was aus der Reihe neu zu bauen.

Leider habe ich die Mod nicht mehr und ich weiß auch nicht, wie einfach ich die heute überhaupt noch in der entsprechend älteren Version bekommen und installieren könnte. Ich habe noch einen alten Screenshort aus der Zeit vor dem Festplattenfehler den ich damals für Blaupausenzeichnungen gemacht hatte. Der ist leider vom Winkel her nicht ideal. Ich habe den mal als grobe Inspiration für den Bau genutzt, aber ich hätte wahrscheinlich die Mauerstücke deutlich länger machen müssen um einen echten Nachbau daraus erstellen zu können. Ich bin daher dann doch bei einigen Punkten vom original abgewichen, was man gerade am Haupthaus in der Mitte erkennen kann, welches bei mir auf die Mauer aufsetzt.

Ich bin den Umständen entsprechend trotzdem zufrieden und finde, es hat trotzdem Rohan Feelings. Ich werde das Bauwerk definitiv in der RP Welt nutzen und dann auch mit Inneneinrichtung aufwerten.


Bitte werft auch einen Blick auf meine Kollektionen. Ein Diamant für diese bedeutet mir mehr als für ein einzelnes Objekt.
