Hi everybody,
this is the oceanliner "RMS BERENGARIA", former "SS IMPERATOR".
You will receive both versions of the ship.
Why the german HAPAG-Liner "Imperator" became the british Cunard-Liner "Berengaria" will be explained in the following paragraph:
(or you just watch the video, it's also explained there)
---
Some historic stuff:
The "SS Imperator" was the first ship of the Imperator-class-trio, her sisterships were the "SS Vaterland" and "SS Bismarck".
The ship was completed in 1913 and became the world's biggest ship (until 1914, when her sisterships came). With 52.117 BRT, the Imperator was about 6000 BRT bigger than the Titanic.
During WW1, the ship was layed up in Hamburg, while many british ships were sunk by the german submarines. Also the Cunard-Liner "RMS Lusitania" was a victim of the Germans.
Then in 1918, when Germany had lost the war and had to pay reperations to the allies, the Imperator had to be handed over to the british Cunard Line to replace the sunken "Lusitania".
So the german HAPAG-Liner "SS Imperator" became the british Cunarder "RMS Berengaria".
The "Berengaria" was scrapped during WW2 and until 1946.
