I've been making Star Trek themed ships for a while and I like to include as many functional details as I can think of. The warp core is always an essential part of my Trek builds and I'm always looking for ways to improve them. This map includes the warp cores for my previous ships and a prototype for a new style that I plan on using in the USS Titan.
The new design uses the falling sand entity and some custom minecarts for the animation. The benefits of this approach are:
- Much smoother visually than the redstone lamp based versions.
- All the redstone can be easily hidden in some unused corner of the build, only a single command block is needed to start the animation.
- I can use any color combination I want.
I hope you enjoy this build and any comments or suggestions are welcome. Feel free to copy the design for you own use. At the moment all the command blocks use absolute coordinates so be careful if you plan on copying the core to another map. I plan on converting it to relative coordinates when I build the final version in the Titan.
