Usage
History
The Tiisal-class was a bomber designed and manufactured by Datopala Industrial in the latter half of the 48,800s. The Tiisal-class was the direct successor to the Taslov-class, developed by the same core team of engineers working in the Paz Metticta system, although offices were moved from Ebanmi 459-Eir to Actos Station, as the former was nearing the end of its operational life and Datopala had begun the process of decommissioning the older station. Development began midway through development of the Taslov-class, with various engineers moved off of the Taslov design team and tasked with laying out the hull and critical systems for a larger, more capable bomber to follow the Taslov-class. This was done because of concerns that the Taslov-class's shortcomings, particularly its lack of auxiliary laser cannons and relatively light armor (although the Taslov-class would become extremely durable through the efforts of the design team assigned to the vessel) might lead to the product underperforming in sales. Additionally, engineers in the Idetaa'nis System at Datopala's weapons research and testing sites had concluded development of the SCI-90 Sacroet multipurpose nuclear missile, and were making significant progress on a larger and more powerful missile, the SC-925 Onalee. Twice the mass of the Sacroet, the Onalee incorporated many improved systems, including higher thrust RCS and main propulsion ion drives, a much longer-range and more accurate primary seeker, a new flight computer, and an advanced software package enabling cross-missile communication and coordination, allowing multiple missiles to share sensor data and connect to the bomber to more effectively evade defensive strike craft and weapons fire and hit the target. The Taslov-class was incapable of fitting these new missiles, so Datopala initiated development of the Tiisal-class as a more capable iteration of the former's design.

The Tiisal-class shared much of the shape and style of the Taslov-class, with the same curved armor at the front of the ship, two ion thrusters, and ordnance launchers on the ventral surface. Unlike the Taslov-class, the Tiisal was armed with two DI Xehi-025-ml light laser cannons to fend off strike fighters or deal additional damage to capital ships and stations. These weapons were an iteration of the Xehi-022-m3 light laser cannon used on Datopala's Tessin-class fighter, and would be used on multiple strike craft in the following decades, including the unsuccessful Topha-class. Although fairly powerful for a light laser cannon at the time, the Tiisal-class lacked the maneuverability to effectively fight starfighters or support craft with directed energy weapons, so the vessel's laser cannons were most frequently used when strafing a target for extra damage. Much more effective were its 40 Onalee nuclear missiles and eight Ottam PPES nuclear torpedoes, which had an effective yield of over 230 megatons and were designed to use a secondary shaped warhead to cut through a capital ship's armor before impact to penetrate deep into the opponent's hull before detonating. With eight of these torpedoes, which also had the cross-link capabilities of the Onalee missiles, the Tiisal-class could very easily set up a coordinated missile strike with some missiles blocking a defender's sensors through proximity explosions, some drawing point defense and screening fighters away, and the remaining missiles and torpedoes striking the target while its defenses were mitigated. The Tiisal-class proved to be highly effective in combat, and with similar durability to the Taslov-class - which was proving to be very popular among smaller TAUFOG nations at the time of the Tiisal-class's release - a significant number of units were sold over the seventy year production run.
