♦ The Setting ♦

When the weather is clear and the sun stands high in the sky, sometimes a decorated peak far in the mountains can be seen.
The peak is the upper dome of a great cathedral which dominates the vale's horizon line, functioning as a fortified bastion within the frigid mountain range.
While the magnificent mountain fortress once flourished under a great amount of visitors. Those days have long since passed and all that remains are empty halls, filled with nothing but thoughts of times long ago.
Only a couple of lone hermits can be seen wandering the halls day by day. And the steep path linking to the outside world has all but faded into obscurity.

♦ The Build ♦

The entire build consists of three separate parts.

The first is a great bridge which spans across the valley floor lying below.
With a total height of 111 blocks, it is the tallest of the three builds by far.

The second are the outer and inner wall, with a bridge connecting the two.
A paved path leads down from both sides to the ravine beneath.

The third is the cathedral itself. Which consists of multiple accessible stories.
The stories range from inside the depths of the mountain to the upper dome far above.

♦ The Building Progress ♦

I started off with creating a map with World Painter. But since I'm not very good at that I had to do the majority of the landscaping myself. The plateau on which the cathedral rests was created by flipping the mountain below upside down and pasting it onto the existing mountain. Next the mountain sides were sculpted using World Edit (I've heard using Voxel Sniper is easier, but I couldn't get it to work properly). The rest of all the landscaping on the plateau has been done entirely by hand (seriously).

This build took significantly longer to make than the previous ones. That was mostly due to the decision of building something bigger this time around. I was originally planning to perhaps build a small settlement on the plateau, but I couldn't figure out how it was supposed to look (and building individual houses is quite the pain).

The connecting bridge was finalized very early on, and I'm still in love with the arches in the design. The rest of the build took a lot longer simply due to a lack of inspiration. I knew I wanted something big up on the mountain that wouldn't pale in comparison to the bridge. However, thinking of something like that proved to be quite the challenge. Only after many iterations did I decide on building a cathedral up there (totally unexpected considering my previous builds).

After that, I started with creating some renders of the build. This took a while, given that my pc is about as suited for rendering as it is for microwaving. But it is done now, and the results look pretty decent. I also found out about filters a short while ago and applied those as well, but I'm still wondering whether I might've overdone it a bit with those.

I considered trying to make a video as well, but figuring out how to actually do that would've taken at least another month or so. So that's why I abstained from that idea.

♦ Support ♦

The build was made in Minecraft version 1.12.2. Inside the downloaded .zip archive I've included a version for 1.12.2 and the (currently) latest version of Minecraft, 1.15.2. I had to upload the map to MediaFire because its size was too large for PMC.
I personally prefer the 1.12.2 version, since the Atherys Ascended Resource Pack, which isn't being developed anymore, doesn't display the stone slabs properly anymore in 1.15.2. Everything else should be working fine in 1.15.2.

The downloaded .zip file can be extracted using programs like 7zip or WinRAR, and the map file corresponding to your Minecraft version should be copied to your saves folder.

Inside the download are also multiple schematic files of the separate builds. These can be imported to your world using World Edit or MCEdit.

♦ Final Thoughts ♦

And that's it. It took quite a while to build, but I'm pretty satisfied with the result.
Btw; every part of the cathedral is accessible by foot. The downside being that the interior is a bit like a maze.
I dare you to find the way up to the upper dome from the ground floor.

The surrounding terrain was created with World Painter using the Conquered_ Tree Collection.
The renders were made with Cinema 4D using Mineways.
In the renders, I made use of the Atherys Ascended Resource Pack.

A 1920x1080 version of the images above can be found here if you're interested.

There is no need to ask for permission to use one of my projects for something.
It'd already be more than enough if you would just mention my name and the post.

Hey! I did most of the larger terrain with world painter. The surrounding mountains were all done that way. I could send you the brushes if you want?
The middle part where the cathedral is located was mostly done with world edit and by hand. The plateau supported by the pillars was made by flipping the original world painter mountain upside down with mcedit.
Btw, I created the terrain after I created the buildings. That made it a lot easier to make the buildings fit in with the terrain.

it blows up the brain!please do a 3d view of the building and the bridge, if it's complicated, then just 3d of the entire map, it's just great.

Added! Though I made one of both the bridge and the cathedral. I did add a separate schematic file of the bridge to the map download
