Inari Shrines are dedicated to the Kami of the harvest and associated with fox-like creatures.
Like this one, many Inari shrines have long tunnels of torii gates.
This map was made specially for the "feudal Japan" jam.
Therefore, to be authentic to a medieval Japanese Shinto shrine, I combined syncretic elements of Buddhism within the shrine's ground - a practice which would become banned during the 19th century.*
During the Edo period, Christianity posed a potentially existential threat to the Tokugawa Shogunate and was thus outlawed in the country - yet, it survived through underground networks. This elusive form of Christianity would become known as "Kakure Kirishitan" and would go on to survive through its prohibition.
Therefore, there is also a secret church in this map, hidden in plain sight.
*Despite the official ban, many of these shinto-buddhist elements of syncretisation survived
If you would like to download this shrine, please go to the Mediafire link:
I strongly recommend playing this map with shaders due to some effects I have used, if you do not use shaders, please use the "no shaders" version as it is optimised for that purpose.
If you are on Bedrock, please use the McWorld file, and if you are on Java, use the zip file.
You are welcome to use my content for personal use, but I do not give my consent for this map or any assets within it to be monetised (eg sold to a third party or used within a multiplayer server with a paywall)

Have something to say?
I had just discovered jams, and I thought as somebody who builds a lot of Japanese stuff, I should have a go at entering it!
