Welcome on the PlanetMinecraft Minecraft Server! And welcome to the official museum, now available for download to single-player. This museum consists of over 7 million blocks, and took over 2 months to plan and build. This museum is a key part of the Official Planet Minecraft server, acting as the main spawn area for new players who visit the server. The museum also provided a key part in the PMC Puzzle Quest, with many different easter eggs hidden around the museum halls, and of course also showcasing both notable members and submissions from the past 10 years of PMC, but also telling the story of how PMC came to be what it is today! Planet Minecraft launched on November 8th, 2010. Over the past 10 years, the community has grown up playing Minecraft while sharing their creative content and making short and long term friends. Members join from over 180 countries, some come and go, some stay and find a home within our online community. Some members even find their life long partners or establish careers with skills honed by playing or customizing the game. The diversity of members and paths they follow is hard to comprehend. Overall, PlanetMinecraft.com has become more than just a simple gaming website to its members and visitors. We're celebrating the 10 year journey by looking back at our history, recognizing the members around us and imagining what the future will bring.

Hello there!
My name is Stubbs, and I was the only builder who worked on both sketching and creating the museum. Multiple people (listed under credits) helped make the museum halls filled with content and events that players could enjoy. After almost 2 years, I'm finally releasing a download-able version of the museum to the public, whereas before; it had been a server exclusive build.

Short background for this build

About 2 months before the 10th anniversary of PlanetMinecraft, Cyprezz contacted me and asked if I would like to help build something for the anniversary. I said yes almost right away and started working on it. The first sketch I made was based off of Rossio Square, however that idea never came to life because I had too many ideas for what I wanted.

I decided to quit working on the project for a few days, but one morning while watching the news, they showed a picture of the United States Capitol building. That's when the inspiration for what would eventually become the final product, started. If you look at the way I shaped the museum, and the way the US capitol building is shaped, you'll notice that they are very similar in that regard, and that's intentional. I fell in love with the way the US capitol building was made, and when I had finally sketched it all out in a Minecraft world, I began working on it.

A few days before the event, and we were very much behind schedule, but we ended up finding a solution where we put a fence around the main garden, and then focused on getting the insides to look good, instead of focussing on the outside.

What's new in the download-able version?

I found the original copy of the build and talked to Cyprezz about releasing the original build. Giving the green-light for that, I decided it was finally time to get some proper renders made for this museum, and that it was time to release "the original". Try and see if you can spot the differences between the original, and the one on the server.
