Visit Old St. Paul's Cathedral and its precinct!

Originally destroyed in the Great Fire of London, the cathedral and its precinct have been recreated in detail using the work of William Benham and William Dugdale. The village mechanic has been used to populate and bring the precinct to life. Every single building is accessible - there are no placeholder structures. In this map, you can:

  • Visit Paul's Walk in the cathedral nave and buy from the many merchants there.
  • See the many monuments of bishops and knights throughout the cathedral.
  • Visit St. Faith's in the crypt, and visit the many burials there.
  • See the Bishop's Palace and the bishop's personal chapel.
  • Enter the Pardon churchyard, with its famous cloister, chapel founded by the father of St. Thomas Becket, and library.
  • Visit the Hall of the Minor Canons, where the most important members of the precinct lived and dined.
  • Stand in Paul's Cross, where the Bishop of London would sermonize before the King.

This map is embedded with a modified version of the John Smith Legacy texture pack, with a couple of textures from Classic Faithful 32X, used under their use and attribute licensing. Using Optifine is highly recommended. If the map does not look like it does in the pictures, you may have a competing texture pack - just disable your current texture pack, and the embedded textures should work properly.

NOTE: While I have attempted to be as accurate as I can based on the tools at hand, one major mistake did creep in - unfortunately, the cathedral and precinct are oriented west instead of east, as the historical precinct was. This was discovered too late in the build to correct it, and had to be left in.
