“Death twitches my ear;
'Live,' he says...
'I'm coming.”
There's an area in the west that, once a year, undergoes an extremely curious transformation. The locals call it 'The Witching Hour', and in all of my travels I have never quite seen anything like it. Some say the area is cursed, but I don't buy into that. For the transformation that plagues it annually isn't the result of a curse, it's the result of death itself, playing at the heartstrings of nature itself and haunting the essence of life. The grove becomes a place not full of life but not empty, for the spirits of darker times come out to play. The water runs red, not with blood but with liquid fire, and the trees lose their leaves and the mist sets in. But it's not chaotic. No noises are heard. Nothing, apart from the giggling from the woods.. and the footsteps that follow you
every way.

The Witching Hour is my first step into the world of seasonal terrains, and it's most definately not my last! This one, as you may have guessed, is a Halloween themed terrain which celebrates the Celtic tradition of Samhain. The ancient Celts believed that on October 31, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead overlapped and the deceased would come back to life and cause havoc such as sickness or damaged crops, and The Witching Hour is my attempt at a terrain that really fits this theme well. I haven't experimented with many new techniques on this terrain, but it does mark the first time I've used lava in a terrain and also the first time I've used a mixture of dead and alive pine trees which I really like the look of, I'll most likely use it in another build in the future even if it isn't Halloween based.
