From the very first time I played Minecraft, what I loved most about it – what made me fall in love with the game in the first place – was this concept of stepping into a preexisting universe, empty-handed and virtually helpless, yet completely thrilled by the anticipation of what this exciting new world would have in store for me. Starting out from nothing, collecting resources, making do with essentials, and eventually establishing, expanding and embellishing my own place in the world – this simple principle captured my imagination. For in all its simplicity, it perfectly encapsulates the human experience.
Even if that line of thought is too philosophical or literary for your taste, you'll still find the set of tiny homes it inspired me to create quite useful, I'm sure. All of them are built to provide not only the basics you need to survive, but also a certain charm that your typical makeshift box of planks lacks. And since the houses are made up of the same basic structural elements, they're easy to recreate and can be combined to form a neat little village.
